300 watt finnex By Jeff on 11/25/2015

I use this product with my reefkeeper and am very happy with how it's setup. The separate display is very helpful for knowing when the unit is running or not so I can monitor any temperature swings. The heater itself is a very good size, and does not stick out of my sump the way my previous 300-watt heater did. This was a great buy for my needs. Thanks BRS!

Suction cups for holding heater in place do not do the job at all.

I'm really impressed with this heater. I've been using it for about 3 months now and it doesn't miss a beat. Just set it & forget it, no more temperature swings. Also love the fact that you can adjust it without getting your hands wet.

I have gone through about a half dozen different heaters on both my 75g reef and 20g reef. This heater is by far the most reliable and consistent heater I have owned. It always maintains water temp with a +/- of 1 degree. I absolutely love this product..
300W of power By Terri on 5/4/2015

The 300w has changed-there is no separate temp probe, it is now located on the unit. The older model worked fine keeping the temp stable so I will need to see how this new method works. So far, the temp is rock solid. I like these heaters because of the ease of setting the temp and there is no glass to break.
The best heater I have used! By Alex on 5/4/2015

I love these heaters, I have now bought 4 for different tanks and want to get them for the rest of my tanks too... They have a digital readout at all times telling you the current temperature. You set the temp you want it at and it automatically keeps it there, you know when it's on because a red light lights up. The other thing is they are not glass and feel so much sturdier than glass ones. I will only use these from now on, live it!!!

Never will buy another Finnex product By Furcifer on 4/5/2015

#1 After owning the HMO-200 heater for 2 months the instructions got wet. I threw them away. I then looked on the Finnex website for a set of printable instructions and to my dismay, they have none. They have no instructions for any of their products. I then contacted them in regards to getting a PDF or a set of txt instructions that I could print. They would/could not provide me with a set of instructions. I really could not understand why a company would not list a set of instructions on their website. Cobalt/Eheim/Aquavia all list instructions on their sites.
#2 After 5 months of use, I noticed that it was no longer holding to the stated +/-2 degree threshold. One day it would be 72 degrees then the next it would be 81 degrees. I contacted them about this issue. It took them 2 weeks to reply to my RMA request, and they asked a bunch of questions like, Did I try it in a different outlet? Was it hooked to a GFCI outlet? Did I recently have a power outage or power surge?, I answered all of their questions over the course of a week. They then asked me to send it to them. I sent it USPS Priority Mail. It cost $14. A week after they received the heater, I got a reply from them stating that the heater was no longer under warranty. If I would like the heater back, I would have to send them $22 for postage. I explained that the heater was malfunctioning during the warranty period and I contacted them prior to the warranty expiration date. I will never purchase another Finnex product again. Their measly 180 day warranty speaks volumes about how much faith they have in their products. Especially since companies like Cobalt Aquatics and Eheim all have 3 year warranties on their heaters.
From their website:
Products are warranted by JSK Merchandising Inc. To the original purchaser against defective material and workmanship under normal use for a period of 180 days from the date of the original purchase.

Heater has been installed for about two weeks and has held the set temperature fine. Unit appears to be calibrated correctly as I have checked it against a glass thermometer. If the unit has any issues I will update the review to let others know my experience. Right now though its rocking!

I purchased this one because of its all-in-one capability, i.e. the digital reader attached to the heater. After the initial beeping of the digital reader because my water was cooler than 64 degrees, it has been perfect! I would purchase another one for sure.

This heater seems to be much more consistent than the glass heater I use on my freshwater setup and the digital display makes getting the temperature set very easy. I have 2, one is off by 2 degrees and the other by 1 degree, but the product description does say it's accurate to +/- 2 degrees. Easy enough to adjust once you know how accurate the one you get truly is.

I purchased this heater to replace a one of the "name bran" glass heaters that i have used in my tank, the glass heaters that i have used have only worked about a year at best before failing in the on position, I like the fact that the temp probe is separate for the heater. works well and very accurate

I've been very pleased with this heater it keeps my daughter's 37 gallon tank within about 1/2 Degree F. It's only a couple months old so how long it will last is unknown. Compared to the previous heater that had 2+ degree flux throughout the day this one is much better. The unit is a bit bulky, but for the price you can't go wrong.

So far, so good for this heater. I like the rubber caps on the end of the heater that keep it from directly contacting the sump. I also like that they give a long wire to the sensor so you get reading from somewhere besides right next to the heater.
If the durability is good, I'll be ordering this product again.

Solid heater that has a nice and easy to read display. The only bad thing I can say about this product is that when you first set up your tank, this thing will beep until it reaches your threshold temperature setting.
I like that it comes with a probe which you can place a separate compartment from where your heater is located in your sump. Can't be a thermometer and heater all in one. Nice way to keep it simple and within budget.

Got tired of submersible glass heaters failing. Placed this one in my refugium with the temp probe next to my sump intake. My tank is now rock steady at 74 degrees. Has been 3 weeks so far.

It is compact and the remote temp prob can be placed away from the element so that the temp is more accurate. I like that it has bulbous ends which keeps the element off the sides or bottom of the tank. I have the 300w on my 90G display tank and a 150w on my 29 Biocube. Both mine are within +- 1F of the set temp and does not drop even in a room 10 degrees cooler than the tank.
Horrible By Barrett on 11/13/2014

The digital display only reads in Fahrenheit, and cannot be changed to Centigrade, rendering it practically useless unless you keep a conversion table handy.
