I'm running this heater with my digital aquatics RKL and the 300w heater keeps my 50 gal. tank at 77* with no problem.

Bought a 800W and it just blew out after only 2 months of running. Not buying another one. Not sure on the other wattage but don't buy the 800w

I run two of these in my system throuhg a controller and am very pleased with the sturdyness. I just got the second as a backup as I keep hearing about failures but I can not say that I experienced that at all so far.

First 800w lasted two months. Have to send back at my expense both ways for replacement. Wondering if the 500w are more durable?

I went through three of these in one year before finally deciding the shipping to send it back for another replacement wasn't worth the money or trouble.
I'd buy it again By Reefnjunkie on 11/28/2010

No problems with the heater at all-I use an Apex to run everything an this keeps the tank right where I program it.
Love the metal and compact size, fits perfectly in the sump

I have had 2 of these in the past, and both failed. While Finnex replaced the 1st without hassle, the second died as well, taking all of my SPS colonies with it. I personally wouldn't chance these again for a 3rd mishap.
Great with a controller By Brian on 9/9/2010

This heater is for use with a controller as it has no thermostat (which is what usually fails first in most heaters). Since you should use a controller to prevent overheating anyways, why pay more for a heater with a thermostat? This heater is nice and small considering its wattage. Perfect for a sump.
