Good fan, but so overpriced By Alex on 8/29/12
Alex wouldn't recommend this product to a friendI generally like Tunze products and the fan idea is definitely valid and work. I'm able to maintain a consistent temperature in my tank with 2 of those even when the canopy is closed. The fan generally last 1-2 seasons and then get noisy.
My real issue is the fact the Tunze took an 18 dollar pacific breeze fan attached a piece of plastic to it and now charges $80 for it. Everyone has to eat, but this is a bit ridiculous IMHO. -
Underwhelmed By Tred on 2/23/12
Tred wouldn't recommend this product to a friendI purchased one of these through a LFS and was excited to see how it would perform. I am sorry to report that I was very underwhelmed at the small amount of air that the fans move. I understand that they are supposed to be a quiet solution, but maybe a little more investment in better fans and less in LED lights that most of us in the hobby really wont appreciate. And it really doesn't need the 2 speed switch on there. My unit will be going on my BC29 controlled by my RKL and I will have no reason to be fiddling with a speed switch.
All in all it is a well build unit, and it lives up to the claim, it is low-profile and quiet. Once summer is here in Oregon then I will know how it does with evaporation cooling. -
