The spinstream nozzles are a great first upgrade for beginners using this tank. They provide better and more random water flow and are very affordable.

Ok I am a huge fan of the IM stuff, mainly because their tanks are easy to setup and due to the size I have two nano reefs in my office. I own three of the slipstream nozzles, one for my Nano 8 and two for my Mini 38. Contrary to what you may read on the internet I can confirm that they work fine on a Nano 8 with the pump set to max. Yes there is a little less flow, but I can say that the motion keeps debris on the move and with only one powerhead it adds random motion that I need. As for the Mini 38, they work great and accent my two powerheads on a wave maker. I did notice a little noise with the two on my Mini 38, but the noise in pale in comparison to the noise from the protein skimmer. But if you don't have a skimmer and the tank is say on a nightstand you might be bothered by it at night if it is dead silent. Overall I am glad I bought the slip streams and they add benefit to both my IM tanks.
