  • Not sure By Brandon on 4/9/2015

I've used TLF pellets with good results. These BRS pellets are larger and seem to be less dense. I'm having a floating issue with a small % of them. The rest of them won't settle down to my satisfaction. The tend to hover in the middle of my reactor. Time will tell!

Works good for nitrate so far..
  • Good so far By David L on 12/22/2014

I was sent the BRS brand of bio pellets after having issues with TLF brand floating and clumping. I had no issues with the BRS brand from day one. Now lets see if the bio pellets help reduce my nitrates.
  • Good Product By EZ on 12/1/2014

I've tried a few different types of biopellets and I seem to keep coming back to these. They tumble well, and don't seem to clump like other do. I have them running in two TLF reactors run in series which holds just about 1000 ml of pellets. They seem to work pretty well as i have never had a nitrate or phosphate issue but that's all purely anecdotal.
  • Excellent By Michael on 10/29/2014

Perfect match for my Reef Octopus 3000 reactor.
  • GOOD By Marta on 10/29/2014

Works good for nitrate reduction but I dont see it helping with phosphates in my tank.
  • disapointed By joesreeftank on 10/24/2014

Not sure of the quality of the pellets just yet, my concern is when i received my order the jar was open and the pellets spilled all over, I emailed BRS and received no response.
  • Amazing By Paul on 10/22/2014

These tumble great in my little media reactor and keep nitrates and phosphates at 0, what more can you ask for? I only got the 500ml bag for my 30 gallong nano with a mix of coral and live rock and have had no issue with algae blooms and such like others. Just follow the directions, and if you have an established tank, start with very little so you don't get a big bloom. It's all in the directions.

Been using them for over 1 year now. Using a Reef Octopus reactor and large water flow. I have had NONE of the problems some people are reporting. Nitrates and Phosphates remain below detectable using Red Sea tests kits.
  • Great for FOLR tanks, SPS keepers beware By Eldog on 8/20/2014

I have been running biopellets in a BR 140 chamber for nearly 5 months. I switched to Ecobac pellets due to rapid degradation of the BR biopellets and guess what; the Ecobac pellets degraded even faster. On the plus side the biopellets did completely remove all nitrates and phosphates, undetectable on testing. Unfortunately, the SPS corals, and clams did not respond well, slow tissue necrosis and cynobacteria was a major side effect of the organic carbon influx induced by the biopellets. The whitish residue from the degradation of the biopellets coats all plumbing surfaces and sides of sump and skimmer. For heavy bio-loaded FOLR tanks the biopellets would work perfectly, cyanobacteria as consequence, but I would not recommend this product for SPS reef tanks. The LPS corals were fine with normal growth of zoanthids and other colonies. I have taken the biopellet reactor off my 230 display. Experiment over.
