BRS Bulk Biopellets

  • Large Pellets By Anthony on 7/15/2014

Biopellets seem to be the wave of the future. They work, it is obvious. These pellets seem to be a bit larger than some.
  • Rapid degradation By Eldog on 6/24/2014

I am very pleased with the nitrate reduction since running biopellets in the BR140 reef octopus reaction chamber on my 240 gallon reef tank. Nitrates went from 5 ppm to undetectable in 16 weeks. The downside at this point is a rapid degradation of the pellets leaving a fine but thick pasty emulsion on the upper segment of the chamber, return plumbing, and sump / protein skimmer. The degradation was rapid between 15 - 18 weeks I noticed a steady accumulation of biopellet emulsion. I have rerouted the output side of the reactor through my filter sock in fear that this emulsion may have an adverse reaction on the tank inhabitants and corals.
  • Great product so far By Sharkboy on 3/14/2014

The pellets tumble nicely with an Eheim 2000 and bashsea reactor. Pellets don't clump either. Time will tell if notates are lowered as they have only been tumbling a week now
  • DONT DO IT! By Todd on 2/23/2014

If your tank is already up and running DON'T!!! use this stuff. It killed my whole tank slowly but surely. It made everything healthy and brighter at first then came the cyano bacteria . I immediately removed it and did a massive water change to get rid of any of the bacteria it created but I was too late and over the next 6 months no matter what I did it didn't help and now I have a tank full of rock and a starfish.
  • pretty good By Dustin on 12/11/2013

works good for nitrate reduction but I dont see it helping with phosphates in my tank.
  • Great stuff, good price, but 500ml is a tiny bag By Anthony on 12/3/2013

I've been running the stuff for 9 months and have been very happy with the results. The last time I ordered I ordered the 1000ml and that's the small size shown in the picture, this last time I accidentally ordered the 500ml, thinking it was the small size I ordered before and was disappointed. My fault of course.

I really think the two small sizes should be listed in cups instead of ml since the calculator only shows the number of cups recommended.
  • Great so far By Russell on 11/29/2013

I have been running these pellets in my DIY reactor for about 8 weeks now with great results. I havent noticed much of an uptick in my skimmate, but nitrates are down and algae is almost completely gone. I may have to step up feeding or supplement feed my crabs and snails soon.
  • GREAT FOR PO4 AND NO3 By Jhon on 11/27/2013

Been using for about 2 years, on both my tanks resolved my hair algae and kept it away. This is my main source of nutrient export.
  • Good Product For Good Price By The Reef Spot on 11/23/2013

Just started running the biopellets. Will be a month to see how effective they will be. But for the price, cant beat it!
  • Great Product with a catch By Anne on 10/17/2013

I've been using BRS biopellets on my tank for a little over 6 months now, and have been getting great results for about 4 months. The first 2 months were spent fighting cyano outbreaks despite not having high nitrates or phosphates. I was doing 20% water changes every week and fed very lightly. After turning my UV off (it's inline after the biopellet reactor) the cyano went away within 2 weeks. I haven't run the UV since and have had wonderful results. Nutrients stay nice and low and the corals and fish are all flourishing.

So after a bumpy start (probably my fault for running the UV) the pellets are performing very well and doing exactly what they are described to do.
