JBJ Arctica Chiller 14 HP

SKU: 206117

  • excellent inline chiller By 241wrasse on 12/22/12

75g tank + 30g sump have been running on this chiller for 2-3 years now. Rock solid, easy to setup & use. Keeps the temp steady on the system, even when running the metal halides. Avoiding parboiled livestock is critical summertimes in the desert Southwest! Well thought-out design, comes with a variety of connectors, easy to read LED temp indicator - product picture shown is with the system off.
  • Great quality chiller! By TridentSSBN on 11/23/12

I primarily purchased this for a controller free 65 gallon setup and it worked flawlessly. Upgraded to a 150 and this thing still rocks! I have to say that I will purchase another in the future if the situation presents itself.
  • Works Great in 108 Degree Weather By Toby on 9/21/12

I'm running a 1/4 HP on a 110g tank w/ 30g sump at 77 degrees with a RKE and temp probe for the control with a +/- 0.2 degree range. It holds the temperature steady at 77 even with an outside temperature of 108, (90+ inside).

Each time the controller turns on the chiller, the chiller has a 3 mninute start up period before the chiller begins to chill the water which helps with power spikes.
  • Great chiller By jrsevy on 8/17/12

This things works great. The only issue is the largest barb connector supplied with this is 0.75". I run a 1" line and had to use a 1.25" rubber coupling to a 1.25" to 1" barb to attach my 1" hose. Had to stretch a short piece of tubing over the chiller nipples after Teflon taping to keep it from leaking when adding the rubber coupling. The flow seems to have doubled now, as I run my sump return line for the main 140 gallon tank circulation with a Sicce Syncra 10 pump.

I have asked the manufacturer three times what size are the nipples so I can buy the correct size female socket to 1" barb and I've gotten no answer. It is metric and probably 30mm? It's hard to find metric PVC fittings here in the US. This would be a more permanent connection. A 1" barb connection should also be supplied in the box.
  • I like it By Keep with the program dori on 7/15/12

Want with this one due to others recommendations. Wanted quiet. And it is!
My skimmer is defiantly louder and this is outside the cabinet. When it turns on it is audible but hardly. The jbj calculator seems to be accurate to my needs.
  • low noise good temp monitor By David on 4/29/12

I had an issue with high temps in Massachusetts - yes it does get warm - so I bought the JBJ to ensure no live stock loss. to try it out I cranked up the heater and turned down the temp - unit kicked on and did not shake rumble or hum enough to annoy the wife - this is a keeper
  • Running strong for three years By Steve on 3/17/12

Have this chiller on my 90 gallon. It's last me three years without a problem.
  • One Quiet Chiller By Evan on 2/20/12

I purchased a used version of this chiller. After taking it apart and cleaning it, I feel that this is a very well built chiller. When running the chiller is very quiet.
