    This has been by far the best purchase I have made. This little thing has made my life so so so so much easier. I calibrate it once out of the box and haven't calibrated it once since then. I know it says you should calibrate it, but I haven't seen any change when I do. I assume that it's dead on. I treat all my fish with hypo salinity and I measure it out to 1.007. I haven't lost one fish yet from hypo so I know that this thing is dead on.

    Makes testing easy. Turn it on, add water and hit read. Spend the cash up front for this product so you dont have multiple other refractometers collecting dust, broken, or just poor quality sitting around.

    The refractometer itself is a brain dead easy device to use, however when I first attempted to calibrate it, it was giving me a calibration range error code on every attempt (according to the manual). I had used RO/DI water according to the manual specifications.

    When I called Milwaukee Customer support I greeted by a very unfriendly customer support agent. He told me that I HAD to use distilled water, which is a bit surprising since RO/DI should be pretty much as pure as you can get. He insisted that nothing was wrong with the Unit and that it was my water.
    Just to be sure I went to a LFS and used their RO/DI water before and had the same error. When I used distilled water I still got the same error so I KNEW it wasn't an issue with my water.

    Thankfully BRS has far more competent and helpful service then Milwaukee and I was able to get a replacement easily which thankfully now works as it should.

    I was using a regular refractometer and decided to go digital, I never looked back !! This works great, mine was getting inaccurate temp readings so I contacted Milwaukee and they sent me a brand new unit at no charge AND said keep your old unit !!! This is the exact same unit sold by F&S at $199. Bulk Reef Supply is does it again !

    I’ve been in the hobby for over 15 years. As a reefer who is also legally blind reading my standard refractometer has become nearly impossible as I’ve gotten older and eyes have gotten worse. This is an invaluable tool!

    It did take a little getting use to, mostly to prevent contamination of the sample and grossly throw off the readings. But with a little practice and using DISTILLED WATER as a standard I got the hang of it in about a week and now get consistent, repeatable results.
