Can the probe be completely submerged in water? If i set the probe above the water line in my sump with the probe holder, and then the power cuts out, the back syphon will submerge the probe. Will this effect the probe?

    Bulk Reef Supply Hey Adam,
Nothing to worry about there :-)

Do you have to calibrate it on your own or does it come calibrated already ?

    Bulk Reef Supply Hey Chris,
Its going to sound a bit odd, but you never actually calibrate any probe. The confusion comes from the common phrase in the industry of "calibrate your pH probe". The probe itself is actually a dumb device. What you actually do is calibrate your controller when you place a new probe on it, this is all done on your controller after the new probe is attached but usually only takes a minute or two and a pair of calibration solutions like the Milwaukee pH 10 and 7's.

How often should the Lab Grade PH Probe be recalibrated?

    Bulk Reef Supply Hey Bruce,
Most folks check the calibration about every 3-6 months or so or if they are starting to get odd results. They usually don't move to much overtime, but you won't ever know if it changed if you haven't checked it.

    How long is the cord?

Bulk Reef Supply Great Question Zach!
The length of the cord on this ph probe is 10 feet.

Okay this may sound silly but I want to make sure I have things correct. On the end of the probe there is a clear (what seems to be a cap) is this supposed to come off? When I tried to take it off it was difficult so I just left it in and have not used the probe yet.

    Bulk Reef Supply Hey Mike,
On the pH probe you are correct, there is a plastic cap that comes off :-) Its worth noting that the temperature probe has a rubber end that does not come off though!

  • Lab grade ph probe replaced By Rafael on 5/29/2014

I found that my pH lab grade Pro was damage when I open my Apex system. I called customer service and they politely replace my probe with a new one for no-cost, they have excellent customer service and I will purchase from them again, thank you
  • Love this pH probe By Kyle on 12/24/2013

I have tried and used several different pH probes and this one is definitely the best. This is my 4th Neptune pH probe and I always get what I expect...............a probe that is accurate and lasts a long time. This is definitely my "go to" probe from this point forward.
  • Good Probe By Jim on 12/3/2013

Calibration fluid would have been nice to be included for initial setup. Also should be noted that there is a cap on the probe that needs to be removed prior to installation. Out of the box it reads just about dead on however.
  • Good probe, accurate 2.5 years and still going By Brian on 7/19/2013

I got this system with my Apex controller over 2-1/2 years ago. Last week was the first time it went significantly out of calibration. I soaked it in vineager for an hour to dissolve any calcium buildup and then did a long recalibration and is so far working well.

  • information needed By Bill on 5/7/2013

Easy to set up once I realized I needed a pm1 to hook it to. I think this should have been mentioned in the description. You could have sold me one. Once installed and calibrated it works great. Here again should have told me it didn't come with calibration fluid.
  • Seriously - No Calibration Fluid? By D$ on 4/30/2013

While the probe itself is awesome, I'm shocked that the calibration fluid wasn't included. I mean seriously, now I have to order the stuff ($3) and pay separate shipping - that's just stupid. Put the probe in my tank and it reads 5.21 which obviously isn't correct since nothing would be alive.
