it doesn't say how much water this holds, and how do you attach the baffles? i like the open design but i don't like the idea of a return pump being in the same area as a skimmer, meaning, there will be some stuff that will be brought back to the tank without the foam block, but i guess that is ok. i just need to know how large this is. looking for something for my 75 gallon.

Great question!
The Small will hold a between 12-16 gallons depending on the water level you keep it at. The small will not include the baffle and only be an open design. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!

Hi there,
The Reef Octopus Reef Sumps are manufactured using high quality PVC for durability and appeal.

With a open sump without baffles and stages, does the water still g
et good filtration?
Question by: Ricky on Aug 3, 2014 2:37:00 PM
Hi Ricky,
Filtration really just depends on the equipment you put in the sump. The baffles don't actually increase the filtration at all but are used mostly just to regulate the water level of the previous chamber. I personally prefer the more open sumps myself because it gives you more flexibility to maneuver your equipment where you want it.

  • Why I like the small RO Sump By Greg on 12/21/2014

This little sump was just what I needed. Really rugged construction, shaded on all sided but one, where I have a Smart ATO. THe sock and accompanying sock holder, glass partition and no bells and whistles. An easy sump to setup and use. Quality built. Would recommend with no hesitation. Nothing to be warned about!
  • great quality! By Dd Reef tank on 12/13/2014

Love the adjustable baffles this way i could customize my setup on the fly and premium quality!
  • Great sump By Will on 2/23/2011

Very easy sump to set up. Very well made and logical layout. Using sump for 55 gal. reef, it has plenty of room to place heater, skimmer, 2 reactor pumps and return pump. Also has plenty of reserve capacity for power outs (sump does not overflow, not even close). Very happy with this purchase!
