  I am starting up an 80 gal system and the first 50 gals of ro water i made in the flush mode by mistake and I have added salt before i relized the problum. should i discard and start over ?

  The actual flush water itself goes down the drain line as it is. Usually when your flushing your RO unit wont have enough pressure to actually produce water, but if it did its still fine to use :-)

  How long should membrane be flushed during the flushings?

  I understand the installation and that opening the valve will increase the flow. As far as the actual flushing - it that accomplished by just running water through the system?

  You are correct. When you open the valve to flush you are bypassing the flow restrictor and increasing the amount of flow through the system and across the membrane. It is the increased flow of water through the system is doing the flushing.
