Joe would recommend this product to a friendI didn't realize how much water it really moved til I had to take the Sargassum out of my refugium and put it in the DT. I'm impressed. -

Bulky but good By Jeffrey on 4/6/12
Jeffrey would recommend this product to a friendThis is a good "little" power head. Quite and moves a lot of water. The only negative is it is rather bulky and a little unsightly in the tank. But not as unsightly as a algae outbreak. -
great pump By Dustin on 2/7/12
Dustin would recommend this product to a friendi love the koralia pumps,i have 2 of them and I plan on replacing all my others with them.they are quiet, powerfull and my favorit part is the stay on the glass unlike other power heads that fall off all the time blasting my sand all over -
lots of flow By donald on 10/31/11
donald would recommend this product to a friendI have 180 gallon sps tank and bought this to increase my flow inside my tank.i must say that i was impressed how much water this thing move andit is a great price. -
wow By austin on 10/7/11
austin would recommend this product to a friendi purchased this and an evo 1400 to start out with for my 180. this thing really pumps out some flow. def double the 1400. I wanted a stronger powerhead for my "weak side" return, and i think this one will do the job. it will move sand six feet away if angled properly. the only downside is that this thing is huge. but compared to other models, the price evens it out. -
great pump for the cash By Ethan on 12/23/10
Ethan would recommend this product to a friendGreat pump it is a little big about the size of a large orange or a softball maybe. All the magnum pumps are the same size so if you are looking into them id make sure you have a 100 gallon or bigger so the size of the pump won't overwhelm your viewing panel. I have mine on the back wall with rock around it which helps alot. Other than that it is a awesome pump good flow and no start up issues so far. -
Powerhead By Lyle on 12/22/10
Lyle would recommend this product to a friendI have 2 of these on a 125 gal with a jbj duo wavemaker. Good powerhead. Works good on a wavemaker with no start-up issues.

Do these make chatter sounds when they go on.
Bulk Reef Supply Hey Jim,
They do. Any AC pump is going to do this because of the way the pumps operate. With AC current and pumps the pumps are actually going to start in reverse 50% of the time depending on which cycle they start on. If they start in reverse they bounce of a stopper until they get going in the right direction. This is the same reason why AC pumps should have the on/off cycles kept to a minimum as this is hard on the pump.
The only way to get around this would be to us a DC controllable pump. These pumps work on DC current and always spin the same direction, and another benefit is that they can be sped up and slowed down as well. Examples of this would be the Ecotech Vortech pumps as well as the Tunze controllable pumps (like the 6105). Some pumps have the controllers built in (like the Ecotech) or may require a standalone controller (like the Tunze or Hydor Controllable). -

Will these powerheads attach to an acrylic tank manetically
Bulk Reef Supply Hey Tom,
Great question. The hydor koralia's actually have a magnet that goes on both the inside of the tank (attached to the pump) and one that goes on the outside of teh tank. So they are connecting to the other magnet through the wall of the tank. As a result it works on both acrylic and glass tanks.
High flow is very important to maintaining a thriving healthy aquarium. Aquariums with poor flow can experience a number of easily avoidable health issues. Using high flow powerheads in your aquarium will:
- Significantly decrease the risk of algae outbreaks.
- Keep waste and particles suspended longer so skimmers and filters have a better chance of removing them.
- Prevent toxic pockets from forming in hard to reach areas.
- Keep debris from collecting on corals.
- Keep food suspended longer so you can add less food.
- Increase the chances of long term healthy tank success.
