Do not use on a wave maker. By David on 2/24/14David wouldn't recommend this product to a friendI purchased two of the 1500 gph's for my 90 gallon tank as an upgrade for the wave timer, I had been running two older 800 gph power-heads and wanted more water moment. After installing the new Hydor units it became apparent that you could no longer sit in the same room with the wave timer on. The clicking that the heads made was so loud. After 24 hours of use they came out of the tank. I am currently using one as a stirring pump in my salt water barrel. Pump is good for water movement but do not use on a wavemaker.
Noisy when used with wavemaker By Pegasus on 2/17/14Pegasus wouldn't recommend this product to a friendI bought three 1150's when I was using a NaturalWave pump timer, and they did okay. I bought a Red Sea Wavemaster and another 1150. The constant clicking/clacking from the pumps on startup was driving my wife and I crazy. It was SO annoying! I sold three on ebay, kept one for mixing saltwater, and bought 4 Sicce Voyager 3's. What a difference... I can actually take a nap in the same room now. Yes, the V3's were more expensive, but they are well worth it. Totally silent startup and running make my tank much more enjoyable. However, these pumps are fine if they are constantly running. On a wavemaker... not so much.
Could be better By Could be a great powerhead on 2/17/14Could be a great powerhead wouldn't recommend this product to a friendAt first I really liked these powerheads, I have 3 of the 1150's and one 600. I have the flow set up like a wave surge, 40 seconds on 5 second rest oscillating from one end of the tank to the other. All controlled by my Apex.
In the last 6 months I have had to replace 3 of the covers due to the pump starting in reverse and breaking the rubber stopper piece off. Hydor mails them to me for free but this is getting to be a real pain in the butt! I put them in a vinegar water bath every 60 days so calcium build up is NOT the cause of the pumps starting in reverse. Also, only my 1150 model has this issue.
I would hope that Hydor has fixed this problem in the newer models.
Just what i expected By Bradb90 on 12/14/13Bradb90 would recommend this product to a friendVery good product. It is well built, made of high quality materials and I expect it to give me many years of use. I bought two of the 850gph for my 60g and they do the job just fine.
I definitely recommend this product.
Just what I was Looking For By Marc on 12/10/13Marc would recommend this product to a friendUsing the 850GPH as a circulation pump in a 55 gallon. Works as advertised. Seems to be the right size for my tank. Perfectly silent, very easy to mount with suction plus magnets. Exactly what I was looking for and about $25 less than at local aquarium store.
As Good As Advertised By lobro4 on 12/8/13lobro4 would recommend this product to a friendJust take them out of the box and put them to work. Simple and effective. Quiet. Magnet good and strong for mounting.
Love these pumps By Dioncuda on 12/8/13Dioncuda would recommend this product to a friendWell lets see,for the money they are awesome.I just wish they were smaller and put out the same flow. That being said, you forget about the size when you see the flow they put out and everything opens up.
Time for a bigger tank:)
Great pump By sean on 11/21/13sean would recommend this product to a friendThese are great circulation pumps. Have two of them in my tank.
Nice Flow and Silent By Jake Wilkerson on 10/15/13Jake Wilkerson would recommend this product to a friendSilent operation and gives great flow. I've owned these in the past and as long as you keep them clean they'll give you years of great service.
Positive By Hatonhed on 10/13/13Hatonhed would recommend this product to a friendThe hydors work great! They are easy to mount and perform flawlessly. It would be to anyone's benefit to own a hydor koralia pump!
HORRIBLE! By William on 9/29/13William wouldn't recommend this product to a friendThey are absolute junk. Yes they work great the first 9 months, but I can almost guarantee that they will start running backwards....if you don't believe me, go on any reef website or Google Koralia running backwards and you will see. You have to send for replacement parts. All 3 of mine have done the same thing and they are 11 months old as of this post. BRS...PLEASE STOP SELLING THESE!!! Better yet, why are you putting your recommendation on them?
Great Powerheads By Brian on 9/25/13Brian would recommend this product to a friendI have two of these, a 600 & 1150 gpm. While I am new to this hobby these powerheads seem to create good flow and are practically silent. I have to practically put my ear to the aquarium to hear these guys running. All around great buy and would definitely recommend.
