Product Questions

Can you control output flow rate on the pump or simply by adding flow valve behind the output?
Question by: Peter Staniak on Nov 20, 2017, 11:02 PM
Hey there,

You can adjust the output with a gate valve ( or potentially a high quality ball-valve). This should only be installed on the output side, and never on the intake.

I was wondering if you can use a reducer with this pump and go from a 1.5" pipe to a 1" pipe without any issues.
Question by: Harvey Emery on Jun 3, 2017, 2:10 AM
You can use a reducer on the output, but keep in mind that this will increase backpressure and reduce the pump's output. You should NOT restrict or reduce the inlet side as this can cause cavitation and premature wear/failure for the pump.

can you tell me the difference between these two pumps the Hammerhead/Barracuda Hybrid - 6000/4590GPH vs the Hammerhead/Barracuda Gold Hybrid - 6000/4300 GPH?? Or can you give me some advice about a return pump I am building a 340 gallon mix reef and want my return pump to also run my GFO, Carbon, and biopellet reactor. Also looking for a pump that makes the lease noise since the pump will be sitting under the tank in the living room..

Great question! I Have compiled a list of the Gold and Hybrid below. The main difference with these is the Gold has a longer lasting pump with longer 5 year warranty. As for flow and head height both will work great for your tank build! Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
