Product Questions

Would this make a good light for an SPS dominated 40 gallon breeder tank?
Question by: Nate on May 19, 2016 7:49:00 PM
Great question! I would recommend the XR30 G3 PRO for more even intense coverage on an SPS dominant system.
Answer by: Carter (Admin) on May 24, 2016 11:50:00 AM
Do these lights come with the bracket or is that a separate purchase? Thanks guys!
Question by: Mike on Jul 13, 2016 2:48:00 PM
Hi Mike,
The Xr15w LED lights do not come with any mounting solution in the box, any mounting system would be sold separately.
Thanks for the question, and if you have any others just let us know!
Answer by: Charlie (Admin) on Jul 14, 2016 7:17:00 AM
i am going to be purchasing a red sea reefer 350 from you guys soon and was wondering if two of these lights would be enough for a mostly lps tank but would like to add some sps in the future. i already own one light and was trying to avoid having to upgrade to the xr 30.
Question by: matthew hastings on Jun 3, 2016 12:21:00 PM
Great question!
The XR15 will have a spread of 24" x 24" and two certainly could provide adequate coverage for most corals with proper placement, Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
Answer by: Connor (Admin) on Jun 8, 2016 4:46:00 PM
I am really struggling between getting three of these for my 120 gallon tank that has two supports across the top rim (one of these in each of the three open section on the tank). Will these work in that application and have no limitations on coral selection or growth? I am wondering if I will have buyers remorse and wish I had gotten three of the XR30's instead.
Question by: Jason Eddy on Jun 29, 2016 12:26:00 PM
Great question!
With the spread of the Xr15 you can easy expect 24" x 24" spread and even coverage for all types. We would more than recommend and use 3 of the Xr15's for all tanks with the exception of Heavily SPS dominate tanks.
Answer by: Connor (Admin) on Jun 29, 2016 5:37:00 PM
Looking to use this on a new 20gal nano system, would this be a good choice?
Question by: Josh on Feb 9, 2016 2:10:00 AM
This can work well and currently is being used on a 20 gallon office tank. It has a coverage around 24" x 24". Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
Answer by: Connor (Admin) on Feb 9, 2016 6:22:00 PM
Can the Radion XR15w Pro be controlled by an Apex controller?
Question by: Frank Berry on Jun 4, 2016 10:20:00 AM
Absolutely! With the use of the WXM module by Neptune Systems. Link included below.

Answer by: Connor (Admin) on Jun 8, 2016 5:41:00 PM
Was looking at something like this for a 10gal nano tank. Would this be too much for such a small system?
Question by: Mike on May 10, 2016 7:33:00 PM
Great question! This has a coverage of 24" x 24" and certainly can work well when the intensity is kept low. Of course cheaper options are available however there is nice control and support for ecotech.
Answer by: Connor (Admin) on May 11, 2016 6:11:00 PM
I'm about to purchase the IM fusion 30L, it's 36X15X13, will one xr30 do the job?
Question by: Tony M on Jul 3, 2016 11:28:00 PM
Hey Tony,

They both over about 24"x24" of coverage, however the XR30 is going to offer you more intensity as far as par. One xr30 is going to leave you with shadowing, which is not ideal. I'd recommend two xr15's.
Answer by: Valerie (Admin) on Jul 5, 2016 4:39:00 PM
Do these come with both standard 80 degree and 120 degree wide lenses?
Question by: Jacob M on Apr 30, 2016 5:00:00 PM
Great question! The Radion lights will come with a set of both lenses:)
Answer by: Carter (Admin) on May 3, 2016 4:11:00 PM
HI, Thinking to buy this initially without ReefLink. can you point to any videos or manuals that show how you program without ReefLink? Is there software and a USB connection available for initial setup? What are the limitations in terms of spectrum control, and timing based intensity control?
Question by: B on Jan 19, 2016 2:38:00 PM
Great question!
You can download the ecosmart live application from the webpage listed below. This will give you full control of the lights when programming them while connected via USB to your computer. The lights will then run the program you set up while connected. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!

Would three of these be enough to for a sps dominated 125 gallon 6 foot long tank?
Question by: Matthew Leary on Jun 20, 2016 6:16:00 PM
Great question!
These will have around 24" x 24" coverage and 3 minimum will work well! Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions.
Answer by: Connor (Admin) on Jun 21, 2016 12:43:00 PM
Was wondering if 2 of these would be enough coverage for a 125gal 6ft tank?
Question by: Jen on May 3, 2016 1:15:00 AM
Each of these will have a 24" x 24" spread and ideally you would need 3 for best coverage without shadowing. Possibly 2 of the XR30's would work as well!
Answer by: Connor (Admin) on May 3, 2016 5:12:00 PM
Looking to doing a full upgrade from my basic LPS 57 gallon reef tank to a full blown, SPS, LPS 100 gallon reef tank. 48x18x30... What is the recommended LED lighting for this to grow SPS. LFS suggested the new Kessil LED but I am wanted to have to mount the unit 15 to 20 inches above the tank. Thoughts and recommendations? Thanks!
Question by: Luke Fancher on Jan 21, 2016 9:13:00 PM
We have had great luck with the Ecotech Radion on LPS and SPS aquariums! You could select 2 of the XR30's for very great spread and even penetration with a higher amount of PAR levels. Additionally the XR 15 has a foot print around 24"x 24" and can work well in your system! Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
Answer by: Connor (Admin) on Jan 28, 2016 3:10:00 PM
It comes with the wide angle lendses stock?
Question by: Scott on Mar 12, 2016 7:45:00 PM
Great question!
These will ship with Wide Angle lenses standard. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
Answer by: Connor (Admin) on Mar 14, 2016 4:33:00 PM
Are these lighting units suitable to be used in a humid marine enviroment? My previous LED aquarium fixtures failed and the manufacture stated they are not suitable for marine enviroment. Seems like a dumb question but I didn't know this at the time of purchase.
Question by: Kirk D. Simon on May 17, 2016 2:57:00 PM
Great question! All of the LED fixtures that we carry and sell are designed and built with use over a saltwater aquarium specifically in mind. While they are not meant to have water physically splashing onto the electronic components, they will fine with use over an open-top aquarium and the related humidity. We have been running several of these fixtures of tanks here at BRS for the last several years and never experienced any issues. If we can be of further assistance, please let us know. Have a great day and happy reefing!

Would two of these lights be enough light on a 120 gallon 4' x 2' tank
Question by: Jon on May 18, 2016 8:57:00 AM
Great question!
These will each have a spread around 24" x 24" maximum and 2 would be fine over 4 x 2 area. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
Answer by: Connor (Admin) on May 18, 2016 12:35:00 PM
will this work good on JBJ rimless 45g , live rock some coral .
Question by: Edward Obidzinski on Mar 14, 2016 9:09:00 AM
Great question!
The XR15 will have a full coverage around 24 x 24". This should work great over a system of your size. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!

i have a 75 gallon tank would 2 be good enough? its dimentions are 48 in long, width is 18 in, and 22 inches in hight
Question by: james couturier on Jun 26, 2016 3:26:00 PM
Hey there! The XR15 will not be enough for a 48" tank. I would recommend at least two XR15s or a single XR30 could work. :-)

  • Awesome lights! By Mark on 8/29/2016

I love these lights! They give my tank great color and my corals seem very happy! I would highly recommend these to anyone! I am very sad about one thing though - I just purchased 2 of these early July and the Gen 4's just came out :**(
  • Fantastic lights so far! By ae86oni on 7/11/2016

Has been almost 3 weeks since I put the new lights on my tank. I put 2 of the XR15W Pro's on my 75 gal display and they are more than enough light! Probably won't be running these past 40% intensity. Love them so far! They are far superior to the 4 bulb t5ho that I used up until the ballast died... only 3 years after getting it. My corals colors are fantastic and the acclimation mode has really done a great job getting my corals used to the new lights.
Not having to replace bulbs every 6 months, and using much less electricity is also a huge plus. These LEDs will pay for themselves in no time!
The controllability of these things are phenomenal! I highly recommend updating the firmware as soon as you get everything set up on your computer. Also the lighting schedule from Mr Salt Water Tank TV is fantastic! He does a great youtube video on how to set yours up like his.

    Very highly recommended!!
  • Great LED light By Andrew on 4/23/2016

With its 24 " x 24" spread, this light is a fantastic value for a higher end LED fixture. I use two on my 100 gallon 60" long LPS and softie tank with great success.
  • Highly recommend this light. By GTB on 4/15/2016

Great light with full control over all aspects.
  • Buy it By Dolomiteclay on 3/25/2016

I got this light to replace 2 AI primes and will be getting a second XR15 when I setup my bigger tank. These things are powerful, the controls are simple, and connectivity is pretty easy even if you don't have the reeflink.
  • Love this light By Mark on 2/26/2016

Great light. I like that the color temperature is controllable unlike the Kessel. Only down side is the price.
  • ecotech radion r15 pro By steve on 12/25/2015

great light came highly recommended and didn't disappoint i love it
  • ADA 60F and XR15W By Bartek on 9/19/2015

Got a XR15W PRO with Wide Angle TIR Lens over my ADA 60F, corals are very happy under this light. Its a 24 inches tank with zoanthids and ricordea. Love the spectrum and easy set up via USB.
  • Great Light! By James on 9/9/2015

I had the Kessil A360we on my 50g cube. It's a great light and everything was happy under it. I wanted to try something different so took a chance on the XR15 after reading tons of great reviews. It was very easy to connect to my apex and set the programming. I've got it set to ramp from 10k to 12k to 14k to 20k and then back down again. Right now I've just got LPS and softies in the tank and they've all responded very well.
  • Would buy again By T.J. on 7/25/2015

Great light. Fans are kinda loud above 75% power. But it is to bright for my tank anyway. Have a 90 gallon reef ready marineland. I have two on my tank and they work well. Well worth the money.
  • Absolutely great light By japicka on 7/4/2015

The conditions in which I had to get this light kinda stunk, woke up one morning with the overflow on my tank had sprung a BAD leak and fried the power converted and the system board on my AI Vega. I was kind of getting tired of the Vega any way because it WAY too much light for the tank I had. Any way got this light as an emergency Saturday morning replacement because I didn't want loose any of my corals and the clam I had just purchased. I love the light that this thing puts out, the colors just pop and if you can get Reef Link to work properly with it then you have the ultimate in configuration ease. This to me is the perfect light for an small tank. Also if you have ANY kind of an issue with the product EcoTech customer support is the absolute best.
  • An excellent product By Jim on 5/3/2015

This is the true bargain in the Ecotech Radion lineup. It has a 2' x 2' spread, just like the others and costs less. With both sets of lenses, you're ready for either a deep or wide tank. I'm very pleased with my purchase.
