nick would recommend this product to a friendGate valves are the best choice for "Herbie" style overflows due to the fine control they allow over flow. These gate valves work perfectly. The only disadvantage with these versus the more expensive valves is that they can not be disassembled for service. That being said, I cant imagine EVER wearing one of these out in 99.99% of aquarium applications. -

Lance would recommend this product to a friendI have been using the 1" version constantly for about two years in a custom overflow for my 40 breeder with 40B sump (using a BeanAnimal style overflow, not sure if there's another name for the style, google it if you don't know), aside from approximately two days when it was removed then reattached for a tank move.
Works great, no leaks, no failures, No problems.

I bought this valve and a few other specialty parts for my plumbing on my tank and I thought I could find the rest of the piping at my local home depot NO it turns out It is fairly hard to find a place that carrys schedule 80 around town(and I live in a big city) but I found one. -

William would recommend this product to a friendI looked everywhere for the best price on gate valves and BRS was the best. Others were cheaper including local hardware stores, but do not be fooled. Those can not compare to this gate valve as they block 70% of the flow rate when open. These are full open with no blockage and very adjustable. Built solid as well. A+ product -
