45MM By QotD on 8/20/2014QotD would recommend this product to a friendBought two of these to drill holes in my sump with 1/4" glass. Drilled 3 holes and only ended up using one bit. Used it with a guide and all the holes came out great.
Used it on new project for 4 holes. By AJ on 6/25/2014AJ would recommend this product to a friendI purchased the 35MM drill bit. I used it to drill out the two overflow lines and two returns on my 60 Gallon tank. It came out awesome. The last hole was a little rough but nothing the bulkhead cant handle. I highly recommend drilling your own tank, if you dont have a reef ready tank. It only took about 2-3 minutes per hole. It was super easy.
Great price for a few holes By Pegasus on 5/4/2014Pegasus would recommend this product to a friendI shopped around and found a great price for the 42mm here at BRS. I figured the quality would be good since this brand is the only kind they sell. 1/4" plywood template clamped to tank to start hole, gorilla tape under hole, and a garden hose with tapered nozzle to supply a steady stream of water. S-l-o-w drilled the 40B, and the first hole came out perfect. Took a break, and drilled the second hole. It took a little longer to cut, and had a few minor jaggies. Another break, and on to the third hole. This took considerably longer to cut, and the jaggies were pretty bad. The bit had worn down quite a bit, and no longer had the rough, gritty feel as when new. It actually felt smooth. I won't be using this bit on another tank. I think it's good for about three holes, and then needs replacing. For the price, I can afford to buy a new one for each tank.
Great Product By Derek on 5/1/2014Derek would recommend this product to a friendOrdered the 48mm bit and easily drilled two holes free hand the first try, both were clean cuts and couldn't ask for much more! BRS video on cutting the glass was a great help as well!
Most Effective Product and Great Price Point. By DerechStorm on 4/23/2014DerechStorm would recommend this product to a friendDid some searching locally and unless you have an aquarium in which you are not willing to cut yourself, then the coat savings is amazing. Local glass shop in MI wanted $35 a cut. Lowes and HomeDepot wanted $35-$55 just for the saw. Was simple to use. I do recommend making a template and using the gasket to hold the water in place between the template and glass for a much smoother cutting process. Also place one to two pieces of duct tape under the area to be cut. This will support and catch the glass that is cut.
This is it By Ben on 4/22/2014Ben would recommend this product to a friendThis drill bit is clearly higher quality than amazon ones, don't waste time looking for other ones, they are all around the same price and function, except here you can add it with other tank goodies and you get quick shipping.

These work great! By Doug on 3/9/2014Doug would recommend this product to a friendThese glass drills work great. I hold a wet sponge against it while drilling to keep things cool. The only time I broke anything was when trying to drill tempered glass. Don't try to drill tempered glass!
Worked perfect for my use By Ethan on 2/16/2014Ethan would recommend this product to a friendI bought one 35mm & one 45mm. I made 2 cuts with the 35mm and 6 cuts with the 45mm. They made pretty clean holes and appear to have held up well - I can't tell that they've even been used.
I made my cuts with a drill press at a speedy 3100rpm and used a spray bottle with cold water to keep the glass cool and to wash away the debris as it accumulated. The glass I was drilling thru was 3/8" and 5/16" thick.
Worked like a charm. Very happy with my purchase.

Can you drill tempered glass with the diamond bits? I have heard not....
Bulk Reef Supply Hi Daniel,
No you cannot drill tempered glass. If your glass is tempered there isn't really any modifications that can be done to it as it will shatter. Fortunately most aquariums do not use tempered glass (though its more common on the bottom panel).

Do these glass drill bits work for acrylic also?
Bulk Reef Supply Hey Barbara,
For acrylic you just need a plain toothed hole saw bit like the set linked below, no need for a diamond coated drill bit.
