Professional Valve By MICHAELO on 9/30/13MICHAELO would recommend this product to a friendThese babies do not mess around and you get slip and threaded options together, you can't beat that. They are well built and will last a lifetime. They are also very easy to turn unlike other valves, quality pvc. If you are serious about your plumbing I highly recommend these. When you get them you will see why!
Solid Valve By Robert on 9/23/13Robert would recommend this product to a friendI have a ton of these throughout my aquarium plumbing. They serve double duty as a valve and a union. As a bonus you get both slip and thread for the ultimate in flexibility.
Very high quality product By Timothy on 9/3/13Timothy would recommend this product to a friendI purchased a bunch of these in 1" and 1.5" to replace some older Asahi valves on my 210. These Cepex valves are top quality and the fact that thet have both the threaded and slip included is a bonus. Solid construction and smooth lever operation.True union valves are worth the extra money. Thank you BRS for highlighting this product- great value and pricing.
a great unit By Tim on 7/14/13Tim would recommend this product to a friendThese cost a lot more then the generic white pvc shut offs but the quality and options are awesome. I use them on all my tanks.
Very good quality By David on 6/13/13David would recommend this product to a friendI have only just bought and installed this valve on the return line in my sump. It is very solid and well-built and nice that it includes both threaded and slip fittings. The valve handle does turn easier than traditional ball valves, that's true.
I have to admit I'm still a little perplexed as to what the key tightens inside the valve and why it is needed. The instructions that come with the valve do not mention the key at all.
High quality By Mike on 6/2/13Mike would recommend this product to a friendI installed these on my external pump. I also use the Schedule 80 Union Thread x Thread, and makes swapping out my pumps hassle free.
Leak developed after 8 months By Mike on 5/20/13Mike would recommend this product to a friendI have quite a few of these true union cepex valves of all sizes. Not comforting to find one leaking after only 8 months. Leak is on the inflow side. I was able to quickly reverse the direction of the valve and stop the leak while the valve is closed. Hope it's just the o-ring.
Top of the line valve. By miamifish on 5/14/13miamifish would recommend this product to a friendI would not waste my money using any other valve. These valves will last the life of your aquarium.
Quality Product By Peter on 5/6/13Peter would recommend this product to a friendI have four of these and they they have been the best valves I have. No problems with the valves I received.
Great valves By Jeff on 5/4/13Jeff would recommend this product to a friendSmooth operating and well built. Nice to have thread/slip option
Strong By ReefDVMs on 4/30/13ReefDVMs would recommend this product to a friendLove these strong valves and love the end change ability that comes with each as either slip or threaded

can these valves be used with vinyl tubing.
Bulk Reef Supply Vinyl tubing cannot be connected directly but you could also pick up some barb fittings to attach to each side of the valve that would then allow you to connect a flexible tubing.

Can I use the Cepex ball valves with Schedule 40 PVC? My tank is already drilled for the Schedule 40 bulkheads so I'm already stuck with that kind of PVC. Just wanted to be sure before I purchased this for my plumbing.
Bulk Reef Supply Hi Craig,
Schedule 80 and 40 pvc are compatible. All the plumbing will have the corresponding nominal sizes, so a 1" Sch80 Cepex ball valve for example will fit 1" Sch40 pipe just fine.

I am setting up a 240 gallon reef tank it's 8 feet long with an overflow on each end 3/4 supply and 1 inch return I wanted to use these ball valves but wasn't sure if they can work with schedule 40 or if I have to plumb the whole setup in schedule 80? Also I wanted to get the wye check valve in 3/4 in for supply but it looks like it has slip fittings how can I install the check valve inline with the solid piping?
Bulk Reef Supply Hey Louis,
Sch40 and sch80 have the same size fittings, etc and are interchangeable so no worries there. The slip fittings on the check valve are the same diameter as the pipe, so they can be connected with unions or really any other fititng that would connect two pieces of pipe.
The golden rule of plumbing is that every job takes three trips to the store. While this can be frustrating locally it can be much worse when shopping online. Being short a fitting or two can delay a plumbing project for days. Here are some quick tips to avoid this.
- Plan your plumbing on paper
- Don't skimp on unions. Unions allow for easy breakdown and maintenance as well as remove the need for precise elbow placement. Use them as often as possible.
- When in doubt order extra. We happily accept returns for a full refund (less shipping) on all unused fittings within one month of purchase. A few extra bucks in return shipping is less frustrating than a project delay.
