Never knew it until I saw the results By Kenneth on 8/14/2014Kenneth would recommend this product to a friendI actually cannot believe how well this product works. If you were using other carbon before, you may wonder what exactly using this type will do for you. That's how I felt, I just knew I needed to give it a try as I did not like using other brands that were not easy to discern what quality I was getting.
Turns out, you can really see the difference. I noticed the water clarity becoming better than I ever thought or realized how bad it had gotten. Very easy to use, highly recommend to anyone.
clear water, any questions? By James on 7/1/2014James would recommend this product to a friendClean crystal clear water, great price, why buy anything else?
Best Carbon Value By Kyle on 5/8/2014Kyle would recommend this product to a friendUsed some other carbon from the LFS, until I wised up.... This is the best value for carbon. Make sure you rinse it though, just like all the rest, and it works great!
better then buying packets By CalisFinest on 2/12/2014CalisFinest would recommend this product to a friendlove it use it in all my systems needs a good rinsing before use but doesnt get into everything like the rox carbon. get a filter sock or a canister and say good buy to prepackaged carbon this stuff is way better.
Good Price By TremontReefer on 1/13/2014TremontReefer would recommend this product to a friendBest priced Carbon around. Works well.
Great product By Michael on 12/30/2013Michael would recommend this product to a friendWe use this in conjuction with the small particle lignite. It usually removes all particles within 1-2 days of use. Really clears up the water.
I recommend it. By David on 12/14/2013David would recommend this product to a friendGreat BRS product! Use it on my 76 gallon half round.
great product By Dustin on 12/11/2013Dustin would recommend this product to a friendworks great and priced fair
Very pleased! By Michael on 11/5/2013Michael would recommend this product to a friendOne thing I'd like to add (and it is recommended in the instructions for the product on this page--but I somehow glossed over it) is that the carbon seems to work MUCH more effectively with a reduced flow rate. I had mine in a canister filter going at about 120 GPH and thought it was doing fine, until I came across the information about it being more effective with slower flow rates. So, I lowered mine, and you know, within a day or two, my corals look so MUCH healthier and open, so yes, very delighted with the results. I didn't feel I had to rinse it out terribly long, but went though the motions just in case.
CLEAR By Daniel on 10/31/2013Daniel would recommend this product to a friendI can't think of a more efficient way to clear a tank up. Easy to use. I rinse after it is installed by flowing the output into a bucket, that way I can get a bonus water change in when I change media.
Great Carbon By BBoyter on 7/18/2013BBoyter would recommend this product to a friendBought the 5 gallon, now I don't have to buy anymore for a long time. It is dusty for the first few seconds but clears quickly and works great. 5 gallon bucket does have a seal in to keep it fresh.

How many cups in one gallon of the lignite carbon?
Bulk Reef Supply Hi Jason,
There are 16 cups in a gallon.
by Jeffrey on January 18, 2014, @9:07 PM
How much of this carbon should be used in a reef tank? Is one cup per 50 gallons sufficient? Is changing out the carbon once a month a proper schedule?
Bulk Reef Supply Hey Jeffrey,
How much carbon to use depends on the particular carbon (and obviously tank size as you mention). The easiest way to figure it out with any of our carbon/gfo is to use the handy dandy reef calculator linked below (In the case of the lignite carbon it will tell you to use about 1/2 cup of carbon per 50g).

Bulk Reef Supply Activated Carbon will outperform competing brands for less. The primary function of carbon is to remove color pigments, pollutants, and medications from an aquarium. Each has a larger molecule structure and requires a carbon with a pore size large enough to effectively remove them. Our Activated Lignite Carbon contains a high number of large pores capable of removing these molecules.
We purchase our carbon directly from the manufacturer so we can offer the best carbon at reasonable prices. While most companies claim their carbon is the best, our statement is backed with true science and real numbers.
Bulk Reef Supply Activated Lignite Carbon comes in small or large particals. Large particles are easier to work with, while the small particles will be slightly more efficient.

***Special Note*** Lignite carbon contains more dust because it is softer. Be gentle when rinsing and do not tumble the material in a reactor which will create more fines. Carbon is most effective at slow flow rates. For a harder carbon with low dust please try BRS ROX 0.8 Carbon.
