- Tunze Osmolator Universal 3155 Auto Top Off
Wonderful product that has made my life easier By David on 8/15/2014David would recommend this product to a friendI was a little skeptical at first installing an auto top off. I had fears or dumping 30 gallons of fresh water into my tank with a faulty device or switch. Having this up and running now for awhile has been great! The sensor is very sensitive and adds small amounts of water throughout the day. I also like the back up float switch. It was easy to set up and the magnets make adjustment simple. I now fill my top off container every several weeks and that's all! One piece of caution is to watch the placement of the top of container as you can get a siphon started. Great product!
Phenomenal! By MCHERRI on 8/5/2014MCHERRI would recommend this product to a friendI purchased this device a year ago and I cannot begin to explain how wonderful it has been since. No more daily top off. Now you can just sit back and enjoy your aquarium. Coupled with an automatic feeder, you'll spend less time worrying about your fish and coral, and more time enjoying your tank!
Great Pruduct By Crysos on 8/4/2014Crysos would recommend this product to a friendI got this about 3 months ago and it is great! Easy setup and it keeps my water where it needs to be. I am home and watching my tank all the time but this is just a great tool to help with top off!
good product recommended. By perry on 7/22/2014perry would recommend this product to a friendThis is a great product by tunze all-around. the only problem I had with the unit is that the metering bump broke shortly after I received the unit. but I contacted tunze and the quickly replaced the pump at no charge.
Working great. Shutoff redundency By John on 7/7/2014John would recommend this product to a friendI have been using this in my 75 gallon or approximately 18 months. It has been working flawlessly. I originally had the sensor in my display tank and when I introduced a sump, I moved the sensor into my sump. I am using RO/DI water with no Kalkwasser added. I like that there are two mechanisms to shut off the unit if the level is higher than it should be.
The best By Jim on 6/27/2014Jim would recommend this product to a friendReally not much to say as the product is excellent quality and works. Do yourself a favor and don't cut corners on an ATO.
Simple design with a back up switch By mfief on 6/26/2014mfief would recommend this product to a friendif you read the directions this is fairly easy to set up. I didn't want to spend the money but in the end it has been worth every penny. I definitely noticed a difference in my corals. instead of adding a half gallon of top off water in the morning and at night this does the job several times through out the day without forgetting.
I love the sensitivity of the optical sensor and the face that there is a back up float valve and alarm as an insurance policy.
The pump is a little noisy and be careful with the magnets, they are strong and will get more than your attention if you pinch yourself with them.
Easy set up By Joshua on 5/28/2014Joshua would recommend this product to a friendIts working great so far. It only took me about 15 minutes to set it up.
Awesome! Best I have used! By Cornfedone on 5/5/2014Cornfedone would recommend this product to a friendI have had ATOs but this one rocks! Easy setup, I am able to keep topoffs to a minimum so not to disturb ph, all, calcium levels.
All I can really say, is Love This ATO!
LOVE IT! By Shawna on 5/1/2014Shawna would recommend this product to a friendI am SOOOOOO happy that I no longer have to tote around gallons of salt water to top off daily That got old really fast and my tank isn't even that big. This little gadget was easy to mount and works perfectly. Several times throughout the day I'll hear it rev up and top off the tank, keeping my salinity from fluctuating.
Awesome By Chris on 5/1/2014Chris would recommend this product to a friendI truly wish i would have made this purchase years ago. It was very easy to install and works like a champ.
Perfect By Anneke on 4/30/2014Anneke would recommend this product to a friendI have had this ATO for a couple weeks now and it is so reliable that I almost forgot I have it. It was easy to set, and did not need a break-in period.

what pump do you suggest to go with the3155 osmolator?
Bulk Reef Supply Hey Bill,
The Osmolator actually comes with the pump right in the package so you don't need to buy one!

How much head will the pump push
Bulk Reef Supply Hey Jeff,
The pump on the osmolator has a max head height of 7ft.

My Tunze Osmolator ATO keeps getting stuck in the ON position. I soaked the electronic eye in vinegar and it was fine for a week, but then it stuck on again. Do these electronic eyes fail after many years of use? I've been using it for about 4 years. Is there any way to replace the eye without having to buy a whole new system?
Bulk Reef Supply Hi Daire,
We run into very few issues with these but after that length of time I would imagine its possible for any component to fail. We don't have individual parts like the optical eye, but if you give Roger and company a shout over at Tunze USA, he might. At the very least he could likely help you narrow down exactly what it is. The number I have for them is 512-833-7546 firstname.lastname@example.org

Just wondering if I need 2 ATO. I know you can place it either in the sump or in the tank, but my question is if I place it in the sump will it also refill my tank in that process. I don't see that happening but if it does please let me know.
Bulk Reef Supply Hi Ronald,
If you have a sump, it MUST go in the sump, in the chamber where your return pump is. This is the only area of your tank that will have a changing water level depending on evaporation (unless its far too late!). Only one ATO would be necessary but it must go in that location if you have a sump.

I have a litermeter 3 that has failed. It pushes water about 30 feet from the litermeter to a sump tank. Will this pump do the same?
Bulk Reef Supply Hi Spencer,
The max head pressure on the included pump is about 7ft. It likely wouldn't be well suited to this application. That said though, you can get the additional switch socket adapter which would allow you to control any pump via the osmolator system. That way you can use a pump that can handle the head pressure.
