Great Little Tool! By John on 11/28/12John would recommend this product to a friendAn amazing little device!! Its nice to be able to see how much the RO/DI system is actually doing! I had no idea my TDS were so high, and at the end... 0 TDS :) Very simple to hook up. I even moved it to a couple different points in the system to see the difference. I would defiantly recommend this to any reefer!
Great TDS meter By william on 11/28/12william would recommend this product to a friendLove the In and Out testing functionality. Extremely easy to install. Minus one star for not being waterproof ( My own stupidity made me lose one). Awesome Product.
Necessity By jack on 11/28/12jack would recommend this product to a friendWater is the backbone of our systems. Regardless of anything else we do, starting with a KNOWN base, we can adjust what we need. I used t just buy a filter setup about once a year and hoped it was enough. This device shows you exactly when it's time to replace them, and it's easy to use.

Ask a Question About 'Dual Inline TDS Meter DM-1 - HM Digital'

Hi just purchased this to replace my hand held one. However it doesnt appear that they readings on the HM are accurate. My handheld shows a read of 3PPM after the DI stage, yet the HM unit shows a read of 0PPM. This is a little perplexing as a reefer I am trying to put 0TDS water into my reef not 3TDS... I know the unit can be calibrated but I mean I just purchased it and the claim is made that it is already calibrated at the factory. I have checked the orientation of the probes and no luck I can even use the probes to check the same water in a sterile container and still I get different readings. I know the unit is designed for moving water but still 3TDS is kind of stressful. What am I doing wrong or what should I change?
Bulk Reef Supply Hey Jason,
Both types of meters are highly accurate and come calibrated, but the inline meter will almost always be more reliable (or perhaps the better phrase is it will have the least chance of error). The difference isn't so much in the meters themselves, but rather in the process. A handheld meter will always test water that has been more exposed (as it has to be out of the unit to test it). DI water is a great solvent, if there is any amount of salt, soap residue, dust etc in the cup the DI water will pretty much instantly dissolve some of it and you will get a TDS reading out of it. It might even dissolve a small amount of the storage container itself. The inline meter removes this potential for error from the process and is why they are generally more preferred.
The DM-1 Dual Inline TDS Meter from HM Digital is one of the most important reverse osmosis accessories. This tool monitors the TDS of your reverse osmosis system in two places and lets you know exactly how the system is performing.
BulkReefSupply.com suggests installing the dual TDS meter post membrane and post DI stage. These two readings will notify you when it's time to change the RO membrane and DI resin. This unit features a digital display and comes with two 1/4" John Guest Quick Connect Tee's. As with all HM-Digital products, the DM-1 comes factory calibrated.
