How does this work once you make it? Do you just add your daily measured out solution into the container and let it slowly drip the entire amount? I'm guessing it's just a way to add the solution slowly or can you make it slow enough to dose over a couple days, if so how do you figure out the amount it is letting into your system?
Question by: James on Jun 5, 2014 11:32:00 AM
Hey James,
You got it. You mix up the solution you need to dose for the day, put it in the container and start it dripping. Over the coarse of the day it will drip into the tank. We actually have a YouTube video on using it, you can find it right here:

What advantage would the dropper have over dosing from the ATO? Where is the best position for this on the tank?
Thanks

Hi there,
For most the dripper is not an advantage over putting it in your ATO. Its a solution for those who either don't have an ATO system or don't have one that is compatible with using kalk (like something that adds a lot of water to the tank at once).

You want to drip the solution into a high flow area of the tank, most folks use somewhere in the sump but really wherever it is convenient will do the trick.

Will this also work as a dosing container to be used with a Bubble Magnus dosing pump and air line tubing? Thanks.
Question by: Jeff on Mar 27, 2014 8:31:00 AM
Hi Jeff,
This is a fitting kit to create a mall dropped using your own container. You could certainly use some of
It's parts to create a dosing pump container as well, though a dosing pump doesn't require an air tight seal (in fact it must be vented) so you wouldn't need to make it nearly as complex. Just a simple dip tube and an opening for air to get in would be all you need.

  • Great dripper By Guy on 6/7/2015

Work great just as described made topping off and adding kalkwasser easy
  • Too Easy By Ed on 5/29/2015

Along with the videos provided, this kit is cheaper than parting it out at my local Hardware store. And, no questions are left as to "do i have all the right parts"!
  • Easy to use By Tim on 4/15/2015

I used an old activated carbon jug, putting it together was easy thanks to the video. Works great!!
  • Very nice By Andrew on 4/13/2015

Very nice kit. The first couple nights, the siphon somehow broke and the drip stopped. But since then it's been pretty much solid every time I try to use it. I assume it was a user error, so I can't fault the product. Drips slowly and makes using kalkwasser very easy. Works as a makeshift ATO for my system, too.
  • Great Product By Ric on 12/30/2014

Product works as described. Extremely easy to set up. Took less than 5 minutes to get done
  • Touchy By Ray on 10/27/2014

Easy to put together. Make sure you measure twice and cut once because once they go together it's really tough to get the fittings back apart. My only issue is that it is tought to adjust a slow drip with the valve. It goes from nothing to a fast drip with the littlest movement.
  • Great Kit By Alex on 7/5/2014

I initially purchased this kit to dose kalkwasser, but in the end I used it to automatically extract skimmate from my vertex skimmer into a dedicated container controlled by a Neptune Systems Apex.
You get all the necessary parts to create a dosing container system then it's up to you to decide what you would rather use it for. Very versatile kit.
  • Great kit By Moni on 6/26/2014

This was such a great kit I ordered a second one. The parts are first-rate, and the how-to video made building a system a snap!
  • Excellent combination of parts By JW on 5/27/2014

Works well as intended, but I must add that this is a great combo to make a number of great DIY projects.
  • DIY Kalk Drip By sfal1967 on 1/24/2014

I purchased this product and received within three days, watched the video and put it together in no time at all. Very easy to use, my calcium level has maintained at 420 since I started my kalk drip. Very inexpensive from start to finish. Works just like the video. These guys are awesome!
  • Great By Joe on 1/12/2014

Item works exactly as described and unbelievably fast shipping! Thank you
  • Great Beginner DIY Kalk Dripper By Jared on 11/28/2013

I received this kit and the exact 2.5 Qt "OXO Good Grips Flip Lock Glass Canister" in the video above. Purchase here (http://goo.gl/eyDMc1) I also used the tapered bit in the video. Assembly took 15 minutes, and I was dosing in under 30 minutes. I say this is a good beginner method, because having the kalk in your ATO would be a lot less overall work. Since this review, I have switched to this method. The one tricky part about this kit is the flow valve. Most of the time it is either ON or OFF. You have to adjust it multiple times to get just the right drip. For my tank 1 drip every 5- 7 seconds was appropriate. It works well, and dosed the kalk perfect. On another note, I purchased 2 of these containers so I always have a backup kalk solution ready to drip. just swap the top, prime and go.
