Product Questions

Want to purchase a prefilter/sediment block before water enters the booster pump. Does the DMFit have filters that need to be changed or just rinsed out and re used. And is this the only pre filter you have for the aquatech 8800?
Question by: Paul on Jan 15, 2014 6:08:00 PM
HI Paul,
This is the prefilter for the booster pump and is the type Aquatec recommends. Its a large mesh strainer and while its not serviceable, its really only designed to catch very large particles like sand (smaller particles pass through both the strainer and the pump just fine). Most folks don't ever clog the filter but in the event that it is, it would need to be replaced.

  • worth the peace of mind By yummy on 2/6/2015

Just added booster pump. Would not have done the upgade without having installed the filter inline with it. Why take the chance off shortening the life of the pump for the cost of the filter? Definitely worth the peace of mind.
  • Small Investment - Great reward By CraigD on 1/30/2015

This simple device truly adds years to your RODI and/or booster pump. I clean it every 6 months whether or not it needs it. Unscrew the cap, rinse the screen and reassemble.
  • It works! By Zukari on 9/2/2014

This does what it says it does! I would recommend getting some double sided velcro to stick this to the wall/pump or whatever... it does vibrate and make an obnoxious sound.
  • Simple and effective By jpooch00 on 5/21/2014

I got this neat little unit to use as the first defense sediment filter for my under-sink RO system booster pump.

Ultra simple and a snap to install.

The good folks at Bulk Reef Supply are also great to work with and offer awesome customer communications and support, BTW.
  • Very inexpensive addition By Manfred on 2/18/2014

This strainer will save my booster pump and 1st stage of my RODI system from being clogged with sediment in the water. It is an inexpensive addition that is well worth the money. Buy it and watch the return on your investment.
  • Why not By RANDY on 1/23/2013

We sell pumps at our store, and the leading cause for failure is something foreign matter in the pump. So it is a no brainer to install an 8.99 part to protect a 100.00 dollar pump.
