The sound is present for all air gap faucets and basically is a side effect how they work that you can't really get around. While physically possible to bypass the faucet by disconnecting the two waste water lines and connecting them with a 3/8" to 1/4" union that isn't really advisable as you would be bypassing all the safety features that you have the air gap faucet for.
Recommend for use on a reverse osmosis system with a drinking water system attached. Air gap faucet will prevent sink drain water from entering the system via the waste water line. This is particularly important if your home experiences a sewage back up.
Air gap faucets do emit some amount of noise while the storage tank fills.

Great product! By a9reef on 12/24/2014a9reef would recommend this product to a friendGreat product! It is a little noisy but gets the job done! I find the overall product finish/quality better on the Nickel one than the Chrome one.
Air Gap too noisy By Brian on 1/25/2013Brian wouldn't recommend this product to a friendI would not recommend getting this option. The air gap faucet noise is very loud and can be heard very loudly. It would be one this if it only did it while you were getting RO water then stops but it keeps doing it until the tank is full and the whole time while you are filling DI water.
