Looks Sharp By Michael on 11/25/13Michael would recommend this product to a friendYes, I am aware that you could probably find all the parts for this kind of build at a hardware store, potentially even for less money. That's not the point of this kit. The point is that you buy a kit that's been tested over other people's tanks that you know works and won't require a single (or subsequent) trip to the hardware store. I used a simple hacksaw and rotary tool to cut and smooth the 3 foot kit to fit my Nuvo 24. It looks great and keeps my temps down in the hot Texas climate.
not worth it By Levi on 8/26/13Levi wouldn't recommend this product to a friendI got the same kit at my local home improvement store for under 10 dollars. This is such a rip off I would hope people aren't seriously paying this much for this junk.
works well/ cost effective By dru on 7/29/13dru would recommend this product to a friendI have a custom sized rectangular tank with wrasses who jump. The top worked perfectly. While not quick to assemble.with frame cutting and inching along to get the screening tight, the final product looked great. I compared pricing for the kit components at a local hardware store and BRS was price competitive.
Got what I expected By mntbighker on 7/22/13mntbighker would recommend this product to a friendI am not a big fan of the frame material but in general this seems to be the only game in town if you want this type of cover with clear screen material. I hope it holds up to the salt environment. The build process is pretty simple, but can be a little finicky to keep the screen tight and the frame square.
Works as advertised! By cmeyer24 on 6/10/13cmeyer24 would recommend this product to a friendExactly what I was looking for, and easy to cut and fit specifically to your tank!
Great kit By Lenny on 5/20/13Lenny would recommend this product to a friendThis kit has everything that you will need. I realize that you could get all the parts at Home Depot but you would have to purchase each item separately and for more money. Now I don't have to worry about my wrasse's jumping out of the tank!
Perfect top By Martin on 5/10/13Martin would recommend this product to a friendeasy to get together and does a nice finish. Definatly getting anoter set when i swap tank.
Great kit By TW on 5/7/13TW would recommend this product to a friendGreat job, BRS! I wish I had known about you all sooner. The kit was very easy to put together, though the 3'x2' dimensions likely mean almost everyone needs to trim this at least a little (probably cost-prohibitive for you to include a throw-away saw, though!). Luckily I have a hacksaw and some medium sandpaper. The assembly looks great and does its job. Thank you!
Great Solution By Mark on 5/3/13Mark would recommend this product to a friendThese are very easy to do and a great solution for jumpers. Took me about 1 1/2 hours to assemble 3 separate screens for my 250 gallon tank. You could probably go to Home Depot and get everything, but just much easier to get the DIY kit. Worth the money. Doesn't affect the lighting at all.
Easy assembly By Jim on 5/2/13Jim would recommend this product to a friendOrdered 3 ft. quarter in. mesh kit. All you need is a dremmel to cut the aluminum tubing. You get extra mesh and insert to hold mesh. Put it on my 40 breeder reef tank. The tubing is about 4 '' extra in length. I couldnot use it all since I have equipment hanging off back of tanksince I donot runa sump.So I just cut a 4'' strip of eggcrate to go around my skimmer, refugium, and penguin200 filter. Now I don't have to worry as much about my yellow coris wrasse jumping out of the tank.Well worth getting if you have FISH that jump!
Easy DIY screen By Linda on 4/20/13Linda would recommend this product to a friendI'm the rare female in this hobby whom is pretty handy. However, I needed a screen top for my new Deep Blue Professional 60g rimless and bought this kit with some hesitation. It was super easy and took about 30 minutes because I stretched the mesh too hard and hard to start over. Great looking clear mesh screen top which I couldn't find at Home Depot. Thanks BRS!
Great Solution By Logzor on 4/18/13Logzor would recommend this product to a friendI didn't give this 4-5 stars because they aluminum frames were not perfectly straight, which caused some problems. I had to inset this frame into a rimless aquarium and create small tabs to hold it in place. The slight arc in the frames created a 1/2"+ gap where fish could jump out.
Unless you're doing a highly precise installation then this option should work out perfectly for you.

i have a jbj nano 28 that has a rounded front. is there a way to make this screen with a rounded front.
Bulk Reef Supply Hi Theo,
Unfortunately the frame doesn't bend well. What most folks do is make a square/rectangle shaped screen to cover what they can as its better then nothing.

This may be a stupid question but I have a 55 gallon tank. The dimensions are 48 x 13 x 20. I just need to order the 4 foot kit correct?
Bulk Reef Supply Hey Mike,
You got it. The 4ft kit comes with frame and netting to cover up to a 4ft x 3ft area.

What is the best way to cut this? If my tank is a 90 gallon (48.5 inches by 18.5 inches), the 4 foot section covers the length, but too much on the width. Suggestions?
Bulk Reef Supply Hey Matt,
A hacksaw works just fine for the screen frame. The netting itself is soft enough to easily be cut by a razor blade.

I have bought just the screen in the past. I use it to make custom lids for people with acrylic. Is the mesh on its own still available?

Is the 1/4" spacing of the grid?
How will it affect reef light?
What's the best way to cut the framing pieces to the fit my tank?
Bulk Reef Supply Hi Scott,
Correct, its the grid spacing on the netting. It has a very minimal effect on the amount of light in the tank. The easiest way to cut the framing is with a simple hacksaw.
