I have a question about how the reef chili product (as well as reef roids) is used to feed sps corals. I have various acropora, seriotopora, pocillopora, and montipora in my tank. They're all doing well but I've read these products will increase color, polyp extension, and growth. How does this work since the sps corals don't seem to consume the food directly as do lps or anemones. Do sps absorb dissolved amino acids or other nutrients from the water added via these foods? How should I best use these foods to benefit my sps corals?
For the most part Reef chili is designed for more soft corals and LPS which can take food directly. With SPS you will not need to supplement with reef shili rather using amino acid and other trace elements to supplement SPS. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
In short the answer is no, unfortunately the food would being to have issue and decay rather quickly as well as settle down to the bottom of a container. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
The dosage can be done one to 5 times a week depending on your system and likeliness of the corals to consume the food. Usually one to two times per week is common. Around 1 spoonful per 20 gallons will work well and it can be target fed if needed! Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
it is a great idea to stop the return pump from taking away the left over food. In most cases this can be as little as 5 minutes. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
We actually pack the spoon inside of the bottle so you may need to do a little digging to find it. If you still can't find it let us know and we will get one sent out right away. You can call our Customer Service team at 763-432-9691.
The measuring spoon is actually 1/32 of a teaspoon so for the time being I would say just add a pinch of Reef Chili instead of a scoop.
Hope this helps!
Have a great day :)
By protecting the coral when feeding by using an upside down cup with a hole drilled to allow the turkey baster or feeding device through you can protect the corals from shrimp and fish. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
Reef Chili will stay fresh for 3-4 months at room temperature. Reef Chili will stay fresh in the fridge for 9-12 months depending on how humid and cold your fridge is. For maximum freshness always make sure to keep the cap on tight. Any time after these dates and we recommend replacing the reef chili.
Reef chili is designed for a wide variety of corals which accept supplemental food. This is a fantastic source of nutrition for a Lobophylia and many other LPS and Softies. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!

Reef Chili was originally created as a frozen fish/coral food and it worked out great, except for one thing, cost! Shipping frozen products overnight around the country is simply too expensive. Bulk Reef Supply co-founder Ryan made this product because he was tired of trying to feed his tank a dozen different things to keep all the corals and fish healthy and colorful. He also wanted to achieve faster growth rates from some of his slow growing frags and see his otherwise nocturnal corals come "alive" during the day with the lights on. All these products were frozen, expensive to ship and none of them are sold by the same vendor. He soon realized that none of this was necessary! He could make a 100% nutritionally complete food that didn't need to be frozen. Better yet, it can be done for just a few dollars a month.
Due to customs restrictions we are unable to ship this product to Canada
All the key ingredients are included in BRS Reef Chili:
- Bio-engineered Zooplankton
- Spray Dried Phytoplankton Freeze Dried Rotifers
- Freeze Dried Copepods
- Dried Daphnia
- Spirulina Powder
- Artemia Nauplii Replacement Diet
With this much variety you can feel safe knowing that you have done your best to meet the nutritional needs of every filter feeder in your tank. There is absolutely no need to use any other products.
Just WoW By Randy on 2/13/2017Randy would recommend this product to a friendThis is the first time I have purchased this. I have always read various products would cause all SPS to go Crzy with PE. But non have ever done this for me, until I used this. All my SPS go crazy when this gets into the water. The response is just amazing. I will definitely purchase this again when I need to. JUST WOW!!!

LOVE IT!!! By Adam on 12/14/2016Adam would recommend this product to a friendHave been using the Reef Chili for a couple weeks now and it's just amazing. There is almost an instant response from all my sps, lps and softies once the chili hits the water column! The sun corals come to life and fully open waiting on their turn to get some reef chili....even the Blue/Green Chromis seem to go into a feeding frenzy mode when I am feeding the corals with it.
I don't know what y'all put in this stuff but the response of my aquarium is like a cat on catnip...it's crack for corals...LOL
Great Polyp Response By Andrew on 12/7/2016Andrew would recommend this product to a friendThis food seems to give the best polyp response for my tank compared to other foods. Very happy with this.
Very Clean food By Tim on 11/6/2016Tim would recommend this product to a friendNever feel guilty about feeding within recommended range. It always feels like the tank likes it and it doesn't pollute the water.

Gets the coral drooling. By Tyler on 10/6/2016Tyler would recommend this product to a friendI'm new to corals and feeding but this stuff makes the polyps appear. I blast this on everything and use before dropping some mysis into my acans and candy canes. The 1.5 oz looks like it will last a long time. Good buy!
My corals love it By Earl on 9/14/2016Earl would recommend this product to a friendI feed this about once or sometimes twice a week and my corals thrive. I have to do it after lights out because my fish like it too. I target feed my acans but broadcast feed everything else.
Amazing! By Shane on 9/12/2016Shane would recommend this product to a friendWhat an amazing product. I've tried endless foods on the market over the last 5 years and this stuff gets the most feeding response from my coral. I wish I had known about this product years ago. This stuff goes a long way, is very reasonably priced, and works. What more could you ask for. Thanks BRS for another amazing product!
Another excellent product By William on 8/21/2016William wouldn't recommend this product to a friendI was skeptical when I bought it, but I figured it was worth a shot. I mixed some up in the bottle and fogged off a few shots near the power heads and there were polyps coming out of places that I didn't even know had polyps. I began to target feed with my Julian's thing that also arrived with the reef chili and I've noticed growth on all of my corals in my mixed reef tank. I know this food is not necessarily geared toward SPS corals but they have the most noticeable growth of all! My wife noticed them...my WIFE noticed them! Great stuff so far, I'm feeding every other day. I tested for ammonia, phosphate, nitrates and nitrites and they are all normal after about 3 feedings over the course of 5 days.
BEST By Rafael on 8/20/2016Rafael wouldn't recommend this product to a friendBEST AND EASY TO USE.
