There is no shelf life as long as they are stored with lids and the water does not evaporate. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
On the Reef Calculator for calcium, I only see 2 part solution, dry calcium, and alternative 2 part. I don't see an option for basic calcium chloride solution. Should I use the 2-part solution and use half for just calcium?
On the reef calculator you will use the 2 part calcium solution option. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
Ideally the measurement will be in dry cup opposed to weight, often humidity will effect the weight of the crystal and cause a difference. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
Have a great day!
Bottles lids have 1/4 bulkheads and a pin hole.
If you are experiencing discoloration or cloudiness in your solutions, this may indicate a minor amount of impurities present in your water you are using to mix the solutions. I would ensure that there is no way for the solution lines to contact your tank water and that the tank water cannot travel back through the lines to the dosing vessels. The discoloration you are seeing could also indicate that you should look into the filter maintenance for your RODI, but usually there is nothing to be concerned about as the high pH and concentration of soda ash will typically cause most impurities to precipitate out of solution, and the solutions themselves don't really go bad so long as they aren't contaminated.
Great question, and if you were to use sodium bicarbonate, and mixed your calcium to what we suggest when using sodium bicarbonate instead of soda ash, you will want to use the Alternative Calcium Solution. All in all, both are calcium chloride, and the only different is the alternative is about ½ the concentration and almost twice as much will need to be dosed to raise your calcium the same amount as the standard mixture. If you play with the numbers in the calculator, you should see that the alternative requires just about twice as much solution for the same PPM to be dosed.
Have you mixed the calcium up into a solution per the instructions on the bottle? If so, you would use the "recipe 1 calcium solution" option. If you have not mixed the calcium into a solution then you would select the option for dry calcium chloride crystals.
The resulting solution comes out at about 37,000ppm.

No Nonsense, Quality Calcium Supplement By Patrick on 4/23/2016Patrick would recommend this product to a friendThis stuff is great. Quality, pure calcium supplement with free shipping? Done deal. I'm set on calcium dosing for a long, long time.
NOTE: The sizing of these products can be a bit confusing (or at least it was to me), so let me clarify. The directions say to mix one cup of crystals (8 fl. oz) to one gallon of water. The "gallon" product above does NOT make only one gallon of solution. It is called the "gallon" because it contains 128oz of crystals. That works out to be 16 cups of crystals. Translation: the "gallon" product will actually make around 16 gallons of solution. Hope that helps!
best two part By Dave on 4/15/2016Dave would recommend this product to a friendnever trusted Dow flakes, or drive way melt, this is a good deal.
Works as advertised By S S56 on 3/1/2016S S56 would recommend this product to a friendI have come to find out that my calcium among other things was low in my instant ocean salt. I couldn't understand why the tank had low calcium until I tested my "fresh" saltwater. Now dosing with this and maintaining with BRS kalk my numbers are great and consistent.
1st time user By Maxxingout on 2/19/2016Maxxingout would recommend this product to a friendMy calcium has started to drop due to the 11 sps pcs I've got in my tank. Decided to give the BRS Calcium Chloride a try. I ended up using the BRS calculator and was pretty close to what I needed. The CC dissolves very easily and worked out great for me. Would def buy this again.
