Wonderful! By GARY on 12/15/2014GARY would recommend this product to a friendI am not an experienced aquarist; but I an say that My tank looks like it has no water in it when I use this stuff and still does after 2 Weeks in a heavily stocked tank. A little bit goes a long way, so is cheap to buy, really.
Worth the extra cost...but still not expensive By Bruce on 12/14/2014Bruce would recommend this product to a friendLove the extra capacity and low dust with this stuff. I'm short on space under/around my 90g mixed reef so I mix about 1 part High Capacity GFO & 2 parts BRS Premium ROX Carbon in a BRS single reactor. With the mix you don't have the hassle of tweaking the flow to try to maintain the right amount of tumble for the GFO. Been running like this for about 6 months now and it is working well for me on a 2 week change out schedule.
Carbon Rox 0.8 By Joe on 12/10/2014Joe would recommend this product to a friendBest carbon on the market I buy the 5 gallon bucket. The water stays crystal clear. It takes about 15 seconds to rinse. I use it in the bulk reef supply Reactors.
Best carbon period By Ryan on 12/10/2014Ryan would recommend this product to a friendThis needs very little rinsing, makes the water crystal clear, and removes its share of toxins. However, one caveat is that if your system is normally dirty and you place this in-line, you may get a few unhappy corals/creatures who had grown reliant on a nutrient rich system. FYI. But I don't think its wise to have a dirty system anyway. This carbon is the best though, I'd run it without question, especially if you've got multiple anemones, etc.
This stuff is unbelievable By Alexander on 12/8/2014Alexander would recommend this product to a friendI am running an unpopulated tank while I get everything set up the way I like it before adding my marine environment.
I was getting calcium and the usual water type buildup until I added this to the filter. Not only has it made the water crystal clear, it's actually slowly removing some of the left over buildup that I missed cleaning. Since adding this carbon I have not had to take a single swipe to clean the unpopulated tank of buildup (a couple months so far)
Very impressed at how effective this is.
Best carbon available. By Nate on 12/8/2014Nate would recommend this product to a friendExpensive? Well it costs a lot to buy a 1/2 gallon jug, but this stuff is so good that you don't need to use as much as standard carbon so it really isnt that much more expensive. rinsing is quick as it is very low dust and does a wonderful job. My water has never been so clear.
Best carbon for your money! By Jmranslow on 12/5/2014Jmranslow would recommend this product to a friendBest carbon for your money. Makes my water crystal clear!
Best Carbon Peroid By Andrew on 12/3/2014Andrew would recommend this product to a friendI have been using this for about 2 months now and I have never seen my water so clear. I would recommend this to anyone as it is the best carbon i have ever used. I suggest running it in the BRS Deluxe Media Reactor.

Great Product By zedagyrl on 11/14/2014zedagyrl would recommend this product to a friendI prefer this carbon over other carbon because of the low dust. This will be the only product I use in my tank.

How much carbon should I use? What's the carbon to gallon ratio for this carbon? Planning on putting it my my BRS dual reactor. Thanks!!
Bulk Reef Supply Hey Robert,
With the ROX carbon it comes out to 1 tablespoon per 10g of water. Or if you want to do the math the easy way, use the reef calculator found at this link:

How long will the media brs GFO high capacity & Premium POX 0.8 carbon be changed?
Bulk Reef Supply Its best to change carbon every two weeks. GFO on the other hand will vary depending on the amount of phosphates in the water. No need to change it until its depleted. Typically this is 4-6 weeks assuming normal dosages and normal phosphate levels but the best thing to do is monitor your phosphates for an increase, and change the GFO when the phosphates begin to rise.

Which reactor do you recommend for the ROX 0.8 carbon? Do you have one that will compress it and keep it between filter pads where it can't escape to the tank?
Bulk Reef Supply Hey David,
The standard BRS reactor I think is the best for the ROX carbon. Its filter pads are fine enough that the carbon stays inside of them. There are a lot of great reactors out there, but with most of the other ones you will need to custom cut some filter floss material to keep the carbon from going through the sponges as its quite small.

What kind of carbon is recommended to run in a reactor
Bulk Reef Supply Hey Rick,
It really depends on the reactor. The ROX carbon is the best carbon we sell, but because of its small particle size its well suited to reactors whose sponges have large holes in them. For those types of reactors the lignite carbon will be the best bet as its still performs better then most carbons while being a larger particle size.
ROX 0.8 is a specialty carbon extruded into tiny, extremely hard pellets resulting in less dust and reducing the amount of fines released into the water. It features high numbers of large and small pores giving it all the advantages of both lignite and bituminous carbons. ROX 0.8 will make your water crystal clear faster with less material.
BRS purchases our carbon directly from the manufacturer so we can offer the best carbon at reasonable prices. While most companies claim their carbon is the best, our statement is backed with true science and real numbers. Carbon is not created equal. Different sizes, shapes, and materials will perform with drastically varying results.
