Thinking 2 returns equals 2 check valves. Is that a correct thought?

    Bulk Reef Supply Hi Michael,
That would be the case, unless the two returns come together at the sump and you could put the check valve on before they split.

my return is 3/4" flex hosing using a tunze return pump. Can i fit this check valve on my return pump or would I need some extra plumbing parts to make it fit.

    Bulk Reef Supply Hi Toan,
Check valves are made for rigid PVC pipe. If you are using flexible tubing then you will need to pick up some barb adapters to convert the fittings from being for rigid PVC to being for flexible tubing. The exact fitting will depend on your plumbing, but it is likely one of the fittings below and a coupler.

The golden rule of plumbing is that every job takes three trips to the store. While this can be frustrating locally it can be much worse when shopping online. Being short a fitting or two can delay a plumbing project for days. Here are some quick tips to avoid this.

  • Plan your plumbing on paper
  • Don't skimp on unions. Unions allow for easy breakdown and maintenance as well as remove the need for precise elbow placement. Use them as often as possible.
  • When in doubt order extra. We happily accept returns for a full refund (less shipping) on all unused fittings within one month of purchase. A few extra bucks in return shipping is less frustrating than a project delay.

  • Worth the extra money! By Eric Ranschau on 2/13/2015

When I set up my 75 gallon tank the first time, I added a swing type check valve (http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/swing-check-valve-1-bcc097feafe80f489ef54b0720ca059c.html) to the return line. It lasted about eight months before it had gummed up sufficiently that it would no longer prevent back siphons when I turned off the return pump. Needless to say, they're very difficult to clean.

Replaced it last night with a Wye check valve and I couldn't be happier! It comes apart so I'll be able to clean it when it gets dirty, and I swear I'm getting twice the flow from my return line due to the more efficient design of the check valve itself.

  • Awesome check valve By E on 2/10/2015

This is the best check valve I have ever used. Much better than swing style valves. The build quality is solid - if you order one; you will understand the price when it is in your hands.
  • Only Check you should buy By AJS on 11/25/2014

I have installed multiple versions of check valves, and this one is by far the best. I would suggest using unions for easy removal, and mounting in the proper manner to avoid and problems like I have read in other reviews.
  • Pretty Impressive so far By AV on 9/27/2014

The quality of this product justifies the cost and I installed in my basin about a week ago. I'll have to inspect it in a month or two to stating that it's still functioning properly. Based on other reviews it is getting stuck in the open position after getting some debris or dirt in the check valve. One note, when it states 3/4 check valve, they are referring to the actual check valve itself, not the size pipe or hose you are connecting it to. That measurement OD is1", so I had to modify to allow it to work with my project.
  • Great valve By Daniel on 3/26/2014

There are tons of valves available, but the bottom line is if you can afford this one then buy it!!! If a piece of mind is what you are looking for this is the valve for you.
  • Have to keep it clean in order for it to work. By LT on 2/25/2014

I've had this about a year. Have to keep it clean in order for it to work. the piston valve gets stuck in the open position about 4 months after a cleaning.
  • Built solid By Jason R on 2/13/2014

I thought it was overpriced when ordering but was impressed to see how solid and well built it was. Works well and easy to maintain. Well worth the money for the peace of mind.
  • Failed to Perfom By Christopher on 2/3/2014

This check valve failed to perform during a power outage. I use it to stop the water from back-flowing from my display tank into my sump. The power went out one night and the check valve failed to close (this was within two weeks of purchase so it was still new/clean). This worked when I turned the power off to the pump, but failed in a real world power outage. I wish I could get my 50 dollars back, this was a complete waste of money and could have been a disaster if my sump wasn't big enough to contain all the back-flow.
  • Great product By Xclusive252 on 12/31/2013

The check valve is working as intended and feels like it was made strong and to last. I highly recommend to anyone with an in sump skimmer or anyone with a small sump. Enjoy!!
  • Excellent By Corey on 12/28/2013

I was skeptical when setting up my first sump but after buying this, I don't worry about my sump overflowing. Very heavy duty build. Haven't had an issue with it. It's a bit pricey but the peace of mind it provides makes it worth every penny.
  • Expensive By John on 12/28/2013

Its great how you can take these completely apart and clean them. I guess you get what you pay for.
