Check valves are made for rigid PVC pipe. If you are using flexible tubing then you will need to pick up some barb adapters to convert the fittings from being for rigid PVC to being for flexible tubing. The exact fitting will depend on your plumbing, but it is likely one of the fittings below and a coupler.
We use regular weld on 711 industrial glue. However standard schedule 40 glue will work fine! The bottom and top of the valve are the same size as a piece of pipe and we recommend using unions to connect in line. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
The Georg Fisher Wye Check Valve sizes have nothing to do with the size of the valve. The sizes are in fact directly related to the size of the PVC fitting they will work with. For example the 3/4" check valve will work with all 3/4" elbows, unions or other items you will glue a standard 3/4" pipe in. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
This will need to be mounted vertically for the float to trigger. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
any upside down check valve will not work as water only flows down the valve. Check valves cannot be used on drain lines. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions.
The description states these are "Slip x Slip". Wouldn't it be more accurate to say they are "Street x Street" or "Spigot x Spigot"? Each end of it fits INTO a socket (or slip) fitting. It's also I think a good idea to put a slip union on one end and an MPT adapter on the other, for easy removal and/or change of plan for the use of this expensive item.
It is in fact a spigot x spigot fitting. Additionally highly recommended is the use of 2 unions or a union and an MPT adapter. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
That would be the case, unless the two returns come together at the sump and you could put the check valve on before they split.
The golden rule of plumbing is that every job takes three trips to the store. While this can be frustrating locally it can be much worse when shopping online. Being short a fitting or two can delay a plumbing project for days. Here are some quick tips to avoid this.
- Plan your plumbing on paper
- Don't skimp on unions. Unions allow for easy breakdown and maintenance as well as remove the need for precise elbow placement. Use them as often as possible.
- When in doubt order extra. We happily accept returns for a full refund (less shipping) on all unused fittings within one month of purchase. A few extra bucks in return shipping is less frustrating than a project delay.

2 month old check valve failed By luis on 11/27/2016luis wouldn't recommend this product to a friendThis check valves are not worth the money they cost. You be better off with the cheaper ones. Mine failed during a power outage and the check valve is about 2 month old.
Reliable product By Anibal on 10/21/2016Anibal would recommend this product to a friendThis is a strong and reliable product. The capability of cleaning the valve is amazing.
Better safe than sorry By Millz on 10/21/2016Millz would recommend this product to a friendThis is on my 300 gallon tank. Although it not running as yet due to me just getting everything together, it will be well worth it. I like how it dissamble for easy cleaning and how it prevents flow back. (I've tested it)
Great product but the price is a bit steep By Mark on 5/10/2016Mark would recommend this product to a friendWith $100 spent on just 2, these valves are the most expensive plumbing parts I have. I would like to see at least a union on each end included for this price. However, It's still better than the other check valves sold here. It seems to be the most reliable and is very easy to clean.
So far so good! By TWang on 1/19/2016TWang would recommend this product to a friendThis check valve is 100 times better than the cheaper swing type check valve. The quality is excellent. Easy to clean. If you need a check valve this is the one to get.
AWESOME! By Ray on 12/22/2015Ray would recommend this product to a friendFits perfect! Great for my application, clean appearance!
Not just for reefers By Will on 11/10/2015Will would recommend this product to a friendI use this on my discus tank's wet/dry system. I never had it fail from power outage. I use it weekly during water changes, when the pump is off, to keep water from over flowing into the filter. It is definitely worth the extra money and has saved some serious damage to my biological filter and my home.
Easy To Clean! By Guahan Reefer on 4/11/2015Guahan Reefer would recommend this product to a friendGreat Valve! Why worry about water filling your sump/refugium from water backfeeding through your return when you can install one of these valves? Side access cap makes cleaning quick and easy.

Worth every dime !!!! By Joe on 3/17/2015Joe would recommend this product to a friendThis valve is amazing. A bit pricey, but soo worth it. Just make sure you have quick disconnect fittings and a gate valve above just in case you need to clean it.
Worth the extra money! By Eric Ranschau on 2/13/2015Eric Ranschau would recommend this product to a friendWhen I set up my 75 gallon tank the first time, I added a swing type check valve (http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/swing-check-valve-1-bcc097feafe80f489ef54b0720ca059c.html) to the return line. It lasted about eight months before it had gummed up sufficiently that it would no longer prevent back siphons when I turned off the return pump. Needless to say, they're very difficult to clean.
Replaced it last night with a Wye check valve and I couldn't be happier! It comes apart so I'll be able to clean it when it gets dirty, and I swear I'm getting twice the flow from my return line due to the more efficient design of the check valve itself.
