Not so easy By TZ on 4/6/14TZ would recommend this product to a friendRemoval of the hammerhead impeller & replacement with the Barracuda impeller was impossible. Fortunately Chris at Reflo replaced the entire pump for me. It's not as easy as they might suggest to change impellers. Otherwise, a good pump.
Works great. By Sammy on 3/13/14Sammy would recommend this product to a friendI've been running this pump for 2yrs on my setup. Relatively quiet, though not super quiet. Plenty of flow though!
Very Nice Pump By Bill on 3/8/14Bill would recommend this product to a friendI have installed this pump to supply a header unit to feed my systems - replacing several smaller pumps. Works great and reduced energy use.
can't beat the price and quality of this pump By Michael on 1/8/14Michael would recommend this product to a friendI hate to spend money twice on trying out products, reeflo had never failed me, two years now and its still running strong, its quiet for its size, I use this to pump my sump from basement all to the way to my main floor, that's over 20' height (big house). I like it so much I even bought another one just in case, but its been two years continuously running, no issues at all.
Great pump By Dustin on 11/21/13Dustin would recommend this product to a friendI have had this pump on my 300 gallon for over 2 years now with no problems and works perfect. i think its pretty quiet considering the size.
Great water flow and very quiet! By Jason on 11/16/13Jason would recommend this product to a friendI ordered this replacement pump for my 500g tank. It replaced a earlier version of the hammerhead. The new model is much quieter and runs cooler than the older version. I also like that you now get two heads if you don't need the flow of the hammerhead.
Great pump By Christopher on 10/28/12Christopher would recommend this product to a friendI have this pump down in the basement on my 300 gal sump. Flow is amazing at 15 ft head. I have the same problem if my pump is shut off momentarily. I will try the check valve. All in all, I love it.
Great Pump but a little loud By John on 10/14/12John would recommend this product to a friendI bought this pump since I needed the head pressure for the return line from my basement sump up one floor. Pump works great.
Great By Tim on 7/13/12Tim would recommend this product to a friendThis pump is very quiet. I followed the instructions changed the impeller to the barracuda and it works great, I can barely hear it. I did have an issue that when I had a power glitch for 15 seconds or less the rushing water coming back would spin the impeller backwards. (14' head) I called reef flow and they were very helpful. I decided to use a check valve to prevent this.
Works well, good value but noisy By Seth on 12/5/11Seth would recommend this product to a friendThis pump was by far the best value for high head pressure that I could find. The pump works well so far, but it is alot more noisey then I would like. It tends to be louder the more you restrict the pump discharge line. I now have to find a way to dampen out the sound.

Setting up my first saltwater tank looking at 48 inch 120 gal. on the main floor. 36 gal sump in the basement, head pressure will be about 15 ft. Need help with GPM. This ReeFlo Barracuda/Hammerhead Hybrid sounds like the right pump. Is this over kill? If so what GPM should I be looking at? Starting as a FOWLR then looking for some corals.
Bulk Reef Supply Hey Curtis,
Below is a link to the head pressure chart. It sounds like this is likely your best bet but the GPH will vary depending on what impeller you have in. With the Barracuda impeller in @ 15ft of head pressure you can expect around 2400gph or so which should be plenty good. If its a bit much you can always turn it down a tad but as a whole, for a pump capable of pumping that type of head pressure pretty good choice.

Is the ReeFlo Barracuda/Hammerhead Hybrid 6000/4590GPH pump submersible (in-sump) or not-submersible (external) or both?

All of the Reeflo pumps are external pumps, they are not submersible.
