Love it By mfief on 6/26/2014mfief would recommend this product to a friendI havent ever used any other salt mix. Why should I? It mixes easily and my numbers stay consistent week after week. A good friend recommended it to me when I started and I would recommend it as well
Great salt By Albert on 6/6/2014Albert would recommend this product to a friendThe salt works really well. The values are as advertised and the salt mixes quickly. However, keep the saltwater agitated, in my experience, precipitates form if you allow the salt to sit too long undisturbed. I would definitely recommend this salt to anyone who is looking for a quality salt for their reef tank!
Works Great By cvolkers on 6/5/2014cvolkers would recommend this product to a friendI changed from Instant Ocean, it left scum or a film in my bucket. This so far is quick and easy, no film.
READ THE DIRECTIONS PEOPLE!!!! By jason on 5/29/2014jason would recommend this product to a friendIM SEEING ALL THESE NEGATIVE POSTS ABOUT CLOUDY WATER!! WELL FIRST OFF THIS MIX CAN NOT MIX LONGER THAN 4 HOURS PEOPLE. IF IT DOES THE CALCIUM LEVELS DROP DRAMATICALLY AND I MEAN BIG TIME. HEAT YOUR WATER, ME I GO TO 76 DEGREES THEN I ADD MY SALT AND I MIX FOR 3 HOURS. TURN OFF ALL PUMPS LET SIT FOR ANOTHER HOUR AND THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO CLOUDINESS. NONE. IF YOU DON'T FOLLOW DIRECTIONS THEN YOU SHOULDN'T KEEP A REEF TANK IN THE FIRST PLACE IMO.
Great Salt Mix By Maxwell on 5/19/2014Maxwell would recommend this product to a friendI switched to this product from Instant Ocean and don't regret it at all. Only negative I see is that the water is kind of cloudy in my bucket. I mix the water for 2 hours and let it sit for 24 hours until the water change. However, the water in my tank is crystal clear so I guess it clears up. I also have had problems with Instant Ocean clumping up, has not happened since the switch.
Excellent Product By David on 5/9/2014David would recommend this product to a friendRead the directions!! I have see many people complain about how this product clouds up. Here is my 2.5 cents.
1. This is probably the most important step....
Roll the bucket around for 5-10 minutes to redistribute the different size crystals that have settled during storage and shipping.
2. Raise your ro/di water to 68 deg.
3. Add the required amount of salt and let it circulate to mix for 1-2 hours.
4. STOP MIXING, raise the temp to 77
5. Do your water change
great salt By Michael on 3/18/2014Michael would recommend this product to a friendHave been doing using this salt mix for my last 6 or 7 water changes. The salt is very consistent and my coral growth and colors have been better since switching to this product. The only negative I have found is upon mixing the salt, the mix can be a bit cloudy if mixed too long. After doing the water change at night, the next morning my tank is perfectly clear again.
Great Product By Bill on 3/8/2014Bill would recommend this product to a friendI have used many different salt mixes and always come back to this product. My corals Very consistent make up and easy to mix. My corals do well with this product.
Awesome salt! Fragile container : ( By Bruce on 3/8/2014Bruce would recommend this product to a friendThis stuff mixes up easy and my numbers are always good! My only complaint is the buckets are extremely weak and I've yet to receive one undamaged from shipping (and they are packaged in a heavy duty cardboard box). Thankfully none of the inner bags have tore open.
Some other brands of salt I've received in perfect condition with nothing more than a shipping label on the bucket.
best salt so far By peter on 3/3/2014peter would recommend this product to a friendi've tried a few different salts and this one seems to raise the levels up without you having to do it afterwards. seems all the other salts are way low on the mag, alk, and cal.
First Time mixing my own salt By Adam on 2/21/2014Adam would recommend this product to a friendI used to buy the premixed water from the big brick and mortar store for my nano. I don't know why I didn't switch to mixing my own years ago. It's so easy and cost soooooo much less.
The only salt I will ever use for my reef. By Burnie on 2/19/2014Burnie would recommend this product to a friendI have tried other salt varieties, but Red Sea Coral Pro Salt is 2nd to none in my opinion, I've never had issues with clumping that I had with previous brands. The PH remains stable and all of it dissolves which was an issue in the past as well. The only drawback is its expensive to ship, but the way around that if you can afford to buy 3 BRS ships free at $175.00

When making salt water should it always be made at hand if i have a contaner or salt water should just be made with in the few hours of mixing it???
Bulk Reef Supply Hi Rocky,
Its easy to have it mixed and ready to go, but there isn't any chance you can mix it as you need it with most salts. The Red Sea Coral Pro in particular actually recommends that you use it within a few hours of mixing it. Letting it sit won't hurt it, but it will get a little cloudy the longer it sits.

I am new to marine tanks can I use this salt for cycling and then I will add fishes and on down the line I will add a couple of corals. is this one better or Reef crystals salt?
Bulk Reef Supply Hey Ronn,
If your just starting a new tank and you don't currently have any corals, then I would suggest using the regular Red Sea Salt. The coral pro salt has elevated levels of calcium and alkalinity that wouldn't be of use without corals in your tank.
Unlike the natural reef environment, which has an immeasurable reservoir of all 57 elements, a reef aquarium is an artificial environment that is constantly affected by coral growth and other ongoing biological processes. Red Sea Coral Pro salt is the result of years of research. Formulated for use with RO water, the unique Sodium Chloride harvested from the Red Sea Reef contains optimally balanced ratios between calcium, alkalinity and magnesium. Coral Pro Salt contains elevated levels of these elements for accelerated coral growth.
Coral Pro Salt is designed to provide the biologically balanced, elevated levels of the foundation elements (Calcium, Magnesium & Carbonates) necessary for sustainable, accelerated growth and enhanced vitality of all corals. Coral Pro salt is ideal for reef aquariums, in particular for LPS and SPS corals and growing out coral frags. Main parameters at a salinity of 33.0 ppt are: KH - 11.8-12.2 °dKH, Ca - 430 - 450 mg/l, Mg 1280 - 1340 mg/l.
