Product Questions

Hello,

I just have a question in determining the amount of titrant used for the test. So if I start with 1ML and I end with 0.46ML left then I would subtract .46 from 1.0 to get 0.54 titrant used. Then I would use 0.54 as my number on the card to get my results. Is this the correct process?

Hi Donnie,
That is correct :-) You compare the amount of titrant used to the chart, so your math looks good to me!

So my question is now that it is winter. Is it bad for this test kit to be exposed to below freezing temps during shipping.
Question by: Michael on Jan 20, 2016 11:07:00 AM
Great question!
These test kits tend to have a lower than normal freezing temperature and typically we have not received much negative feed back during shipments in winter. If you have any issues or questions feel free to let us know and we will be more than willing to help!

  • Fast & Easy By John on 5/18/2017

Easy to read results. Takes about 15 min to do all three tests.
  • Easy and accurate test kit! By Fernando on 3/28/2017

I can't believe I waited this long to get this test kit. Don't waste your money on buying the cheap API test kits like I did. Those are garbage compared to these hobby grade tests. Spend the extra money on this, totally worth it! Your tank will thank you!
  • Colors take getting used to By Chad on 3/8/2017

I think its easy to use and the titration handle makes life easy. My only complaint is it's a little hard to discern what the ending color is between the card and what you actually see. Once you do a dozen or so you get used to what it is supposed to look like.
  • Syringe markings wearing out quickly By Marcus on 2/14/2017

I like the test kit but after only a few tests the markings on 3 of the 4 syringes have worn to the point that they are not useable for testing due to the inability to make accurate measurements. That is the reason for the 2 star review. If measurement markings did not wear off so easily I would give 4 stars.

Markings on 2 of 3 smaller syringes totally worn off above .9ml. On larger syringe same issue above 8ml.

I have not mistreated the syringes, no scrubbing or anything that should remove the markings. Given the current rate of wear, there is no way these syringes will last and the kit will become useless without them.
  • Like it - Alk a little touchy By Marc on 12/12/2016

Been using this kit after 3 years using API only. More involved than APIn and I've never had a Mag test. Alk is very touchy and a little tough discerning when the color changes to indicate final reading but a much finer reading than the API Alk test so there's that. Overall, I'm pleased.
  • Red Sea Reef Foundation Pro Multi Test Kit By William on 10/20/2016

    Easy to use test kit.
  • Easy to use By Kurtis on 9/26/2016

This is my second kit and find it very easy to use and reliable. I will continue to use Red Sea.
  • Quality test kit By 100reef on 8/9/2016

    Solid and reliable
  • Great Kit By Yuri on 8/1/2016

Before buying this kit, I had the separate Red Sea Pro Mg, KH and an API Ca. It is nice to have all 3 test kits now in one box and having the option to just buy reagents afterwards is a plus. Once you find out that Red Sea updated their color changes and have done the test a few times it's easy as pie.
  • High quality test kit By Jsl on 7/15/2016

High quality and pretty easy to use. Gives an accurate reading once you know how to test properly. Red Sea should clarify in the directions that it's normal for there to be an air bubble in the syringe to account for the tip..and to level the plunger with the 1ml line still.
  • nice kit By john on 7/7/2016

its a little cumbersome with too many pieces but they are well made. Takes time ti get it down but eventually gets easier
  • End colors wrong and will change By James on 7/6/2016

I loved this test when I first got it. But as I used it and as time went by I noticed things that weren't right. After wondering what the end color really should be, I asked Red Sea. Apparently the end color for the alkalinity test is pink, not red. And it's not even pink, it's clear. The end is as soon as you see any pink at all. Which mean my measurements have been off the whole time. Then there's the expectation. As it gets older the end color for the alkalinity test changes. It's been about a year and the end color is now yellow, it never even gets close to pink or red. The bottle says "Exp. 0517", it's 0716. They also said the Mg and Ca end colors are when you see the first sign of blue, not purple and dark blue. Now I have no idea what to expect from this test and will have to get a different kit to see what my levels are. I don't think I'll be buying anything else from Red Sea any time soon.
