Quality Reactor By Mike on 10/22/12Mike would recommend this product to a friendThe reactor is made of thick plastic and is built very well. The quick connect and swivels help get it up and running fast. Love this reactor.
GREAT REACTOR FOR THE MONEY By Pete on 10/3/12Pete would recommend this product to a friendWorks like a charm, using a maxi jet 1200 for a good flow.
Old two little fishes reactor too many problems.
Very happy and I'd recommend to all you reefers out there this is the reactor for you.
best buy for your money By r. wilmeth on 9/22/12r. wilmeth would recommend this product to a friendlike every BRS product i have ever bought this reactor is very high quality. like alot of people my first reactor was a converted phosban reactor powered by a maxi jet. no mater what i did i could not get a good even flow and with biopellets that is key. when i recieved my BRS reactor i was imediately impresed. i had it mounted in minutes and out of curiousity i hooked the maxijet up to it.because of the design of the reactor it had all the pellets moving. my reactor is mounted at sump level so the maxijet only has 6 inches of head presure any more i would have gone with a bigger pump.i have a much more expencive unit on another tank and like it alot but it cost more than three times as much as the BRS reactor.
My Nitrates read zero! By Andrew on 6/8/12Andrew would recommend this product to a friendI have an overstocked reef tank... enough said my nitrates were always a bit high even when I did a lot of water changes. I had to do one every week to keep it at bay. My corals never really had amazing colors and great growth. I bought this product and the BRS Bio Pellets and since than my phosphates read zero! I love this thing! Only thing is that my SKIM SMELLS FOUL but i can deal with that!
works great By david on 4/29/12david would recommend this product to a friendworks great, good controll of tumble, easy assembly
Great Little Reactor By Rod on 3/10/12Rod would recommend this product to a friendSo long as you use the proper pump to keep the flow at a level that will tumble the bio pellets this is very effective little bio pellet reactor. I run mine with the recommended Mag 5 pump and it run flawlessly. Just purchased a second unit for my new SPS build... Very effective on keeping the nitrates down.
Bio pellets hmm By Joshua on 2/27/12Joshua would recommend this product to a friendThey do exactly what they say! It bas reduced my nitrates and also reduced the ammount of water changes I need to do on my tank! Would recoment these to anyone think of this
Excellent Reactor at 1/2 the price of most reactors By Jay on 2/23/12Jay would recommend this product to a friendI had a really bad Algae problem in my 75 Gallon reef tank so I purchased the BRS Reactor and Bio Pellets . After 1 week I could see a major reduction in the amount of Algae in my tank. I had to put the reactor in the sum with the Maxi jet pump for the pellets to all move and have no clumped up pellets . My Skimmer has been working hard and it must be emptied every day . The BRS reactor is 1/2 the price of most others and works great .
cost effective biopellet option By Lee on 11/29/11Lee would recommend this product to a friendthis product is identical to the other reactor for carbon or ferric oxide with the exception that the internal canister is mechanically designed for biopellets. it is simple to use and setup. I chose this option based on cost over the other reactor styles. I am running 2 units in parallel with a single mag 3 pump with good tumbling of media.
works well but reccomend using a mag pump to keep the pellets from bunching up By Christopher on 8/17/11Christopher would recommend this product to a friendGreat reactor. I would recommend the mag pump to keep the flow going. Defiantly have to have patience with bio pellets but so far it is working well at taking care of my nitrates.
nice product!!! By Hugo on 7/9/11Hugo would recommend this product to a friendVery easy to install. Does not need any extra stuff inside the canister like other reactors do. Pellets tumble very nicely.

In the double reactor can you run bio pellet gfo/phosan or carbon in series if you have a strong enough pump. If so which order should you put it in?
Bulk Reef Supply Hey Dan,
Great question. Biopellets really need to be run in their own reactor in order to work correctly (not gum up the other media's, have proper flow rates, etc).
I would suggest getting either a single or dual reactor for your GFO/Carbon needs and a seperate biopellet reactor for your biopellets.
The BRS Biopellet Reactor features several distinct advantages over other brands.
- Heavy duty all plastic construction.
- High quality easy to use double O-Ring push connect fittings.
- Easy to operate, clean and maintain.
- High quality ball valve for precise tuning.
- Filter wrench
- (2) 3 Ft. sections of tubing
- Instantly attaches to popular pumps using included push connect or threaded fittings.
- 1/2" fittings and ports throughout reduce head pressure and provide ample flow rates.
- Holds up to 350mL of biopellets (~1.5 cups).
- Dimensions: 14.5"H x 5.5"W x 5"
Feed pump notes - You may use a variety of different feed pumps for this reactor but there are two popular options we recommend.
Mag drive 3 – This pump is highly recommended. It is strong enough to tumble the biopellets continually and will likely have to be dialed back using the included valve. This will allow room for you to turn up the flow inside the reactor if it were to slow down due to tank debris collecting in the cartridge strainer. This pump option requires the least amount of maintenance and effort.
Cobalt Aquatics MJ 1200 – This is an affordable option and works with small tanks and very short distances
- It is important to install the reactor close to the water level of your tank/sump to minimize head pressure.
- It is also important to keep the cartridge strainer free of floating tank debris. You can do this by using the foam Maxijet prefilter, filter socks on your sump return and placing the pump in a clean area of your sump
- If it does clog you can clean the cartridge strainer as part of your standard maintenance schedule or upgrade the pump at a later date.
