a product that gets you a phosphate reading you can trust By Ricky on 7/16/2014Ricky would recommend this product to a friendI like a lot of people have a hard time telling with certainty what the phosphate reading is with the liquid or even titration tests. No more guessing with this tester.
great but a little tricky By Jonathan on 7/15/2014Jonathan would recommend this product to a friendIt took me a few times to learn. I use both test tubes, makes the testing easier. Make sure to wipe off glass test tube even small print can mess up the test. Apart from that great.
very accurate By swseipel on 7/6/2014swseipel would recommend this product to a friendThis meter is awesome. ..very accurate. Easy to use
Work great By Christopher Kirkland on 6/25/2014Christopher Kirkland would recommend this product to a friendVery accurate, does take some practice to get use to using it correctly. There are several youtube videos that help along with that. Love the tester.
Was a Fathers Day gift for my husband By Laura on 6/11/2014Laura would recommend this product to a friendWorks Great! My husband was actually excited when he DID get a phosphate reading with this test kit. Would like to suggest BRS add a suggested link to the refill reagent packets to buy with it so the customer can save a little on shipping as there are not that many reagent packets with this kit. Wish I had ordered the refills with it. Other than that, it is well worth it and I would recommend it highly to anyone who owns a tank.
Really only 6?!? By Gregory on 6/11/2014Gregory would recommend this product to a friendI guess it was my own fault that I didn't take the time to find any reviews stating only 6 reagents came with the checker. But on a good note you get some knock off battery included!
Ease of use but hope it's working properly By jasonandsarah on 5/27/2014jasonandsarah would recommend this product to a friendI love how easy this is to use! I've used many different test kits but this is the easiest by far. My only worry is that I hadn't run gfo in a few weeks when I received my phosphate checker and it still read 000? It wasn't blinking so it wasn't a error reading? I tested 3 times the first night just to be sure because I thought I'd get some kind of reading?
Easy to use, but be quick By Paul on 5/9/2014Paul would recommend this product to a friendThis meter is easy to use and you don't have to worry about figuring out which shade of blue you have against a chart. I have yet to run multiple test on the same water to check consistency, so I can't say anything to that effect. Only issue that prevented me from giving it 5 stars is the timeout. It will turn itself off after 3 minutes or so (to save battery) However when you do the first calibration, and then go to mix the reagent, if you get side tracked it will shut off and you'll miss the opportunity to run the test and have to start over. On occasion I ran the test all the way through, but got sidetracked waiting for the 3 minutes of testing and when i went to go check the result, it shut off. If using this product, I highly recommend not doing anything else to avoid the timeout.
Digital all the way! By Scott on 5/6/2014Scott would recommend this product to a friendI've had many phosphate test and matching colors is always hit or miss. Having a true digital reading is great . As people have said use both vials -makes the testing much easier. The packets are a bit of a pain- you have to be careful when cutting and adding them into the vial. Overall, I feel this is the best phosphate tester for the money
Not bad By Matt on 4/16/2014Matt would recommend this product to a friendNice little gadget. 10 times easier to use than a normal test kit. The only two problems are: is extremely difficult to get the reagents into the test tube, and sometimes the automatic display shut off can ruin a test by exiting before you can see the results.
Great product By wing on 4/15/2014wing would recommend this product to a friendTesting phosphate with simple procedure. No color matching guess.
Easy and Precise measurement By GUnit on 4/3/2014GUnit would recommend this product to a friendThis is the easiest and quickest test kit for phosphate that I've used. I'm a sucker for precision and not having to guess at colors so this test kit is ideal for that.
The couple of recommendations that I would have for people buying/using this test kit are:
1) When doing the test use BOTH vials. This is key to avoid having the meter turn off on you while you combine the reagent with the sample (2 minute shake time vs 2 minute auto shutoff.... :( ) Fill both with the appropriate amount of sample. Set one aside with the cap on. Add the reagent to the second and begin the 2 minutes mix/shake. About half way into the shake drop the first non-reagent sample into the meter and calibrate. After you're done shake drop the vial with reagent in an get a reading!
2) Buy more reagent immediately (or shortly thereafter) as you only get 10ish reagent packets in the kit.

Does this meter require periodic calibration with some kind of calibration solution?
Bulk Reef Supply Hi Eric,
One of the first steps every time you test is to zero out the meter, then you add reagent and test the actual sample. This is done every test but It does not require any sort of extra calibration procedure on top of that.
