  • Very Easy and Accurate By Tim on 3/31/2015

By far the most accurate and easy to use refractometer I have ever used
  • Very easy to use By Chris on 3/23/2015

I had a hard time justifying this expense - but when I did, I was really pleased. This device is VERY quick and easy to use… and for the first time, I know that I am getting proper temperature adjustments to my measurements.
  • Expensive, but well worth it. By Ben on 3/19/2015

The one I received had a few of the lcd bars on the display not working properly. I contacted Milwaukee and could not have been more pleased with the customer service. They sent a replacement one in the mail the same day, once I provided them with a picture of the defective display and my invoice. As far as the unit goes, it works very well: Very fast, easy to read readouts. Comes with calibration fluid which I didn't realize so that's a plus. These are expensive, but it's worth it for good high quality products from Milwaukee. (We didn't get into this hobby to save money)
  • Its Great with one exception By Jeffrey on 3/12/2015

This meter is simply amazing. I had been using a refractometer for the past 4 years. As both myself and the refractometer are getting older, I found it tough to read and calibrate each time. Looking through the little window into a light source... NO thanks. This meter is the cats meow. The only issue I have with it and I am still not sure everything is working correctly is the calibration / accuracy. The meter calibrates quickly and accurately with either the provided distilled water or my own RODI water. When using the supplied calibrated solution to 35 ppt / 1.025 SG, my meter ready 36 ppt and 1.026 SG. Then I attempted to use the pinpoint calibration solution and I found that it read 37 ppt and 1.027 / 1.028 SG.(varied over 4 samples) I realize there is a one digit rounding and calibration error allowed but seeing 1.028 when it should be 1.025 is a bit unsettling especially with a known value of 1.025. I believe this is a sound meter and a great tool to have in the reefing hobby, I just wish mine was a little closer to the known value because I will now always question it when it is in the higher salinity readings.
  • Makes checking SG easy By RDM on 2/20/2015

I've had one of these for a year and it has worked very well. I recently added a second tank and a water mixing station. The first one worked so well and carrying it back and forth between the house and my shop got old so getting a second one seemed like a good idea. This is easy to calibrate and use which makes it quick and easy to keep an eye on the SG for my tanks and new water mixes. Highly recommended!
  • Wow - exceeded expectations By Jeffrey on 2/15/2015

The build quality of this unit is aces. Works like a dream... As a new to the hobby reef keeper, I have to say I have nowhere to go but down after using this refractometer. This is the top.. You deserve it, order one now, you won't be disappointed. Get the case too as this device is worthy of the love.
  • Spot on By Jason P. on 12/31/2014

I love technology, especially when it works. I use this refractometer as my primary tester. Extremely easy to use and calibrate.
  • Way too easy By Paul on 12/30/2014

Should of used this earlier, way easy to use and very accurate readings. you can use the available three readings with a touch of a button and no more trying to see the line between marks. You won't regret buying this. I have retired my handheld refractometer now. Just make sure you rinse your pipet in freshwater so you don't get salt build up and throw your readings off.
  • amazing By Arash on 12/19/2014

don't know why i didn't do this earlier - so much better than light refractometer and easier. much more accurate readings.
  • Easy to use and mostly accurate. By DivingTheWorld on 12/19/2014

I have used this quite a bit now and I do find it to be accurate. I find that you can calibrate with either RODI or Distilled water and it doesn't make a difference with the results.

The reason I don't give it 5 stars is due to the 1 ppt offset. To get an accurate 35 ppt level in your aquarium, the Milwaukee will display 36 ppt. I have verified this with two different calibration fluids and comparing to a Pinpoint and a Tropic Marin High Precision Hydrometer.

But once you know the offset, the readings are accurate and it's simple to use.
  • Best refractometer! By Jim on 12/19/2014

Don't waste your money on any other product. Simple to use, always accurate, functional, easy to read, and more fun to use than other methods. Spend your money wisely and choose this product first vs sampling other testers only to get to this product after trial and error.
  • Great Product By Mike on 12/12/2014

Very easy to use and accurate.
