Justin would recommend this product to a friendPlaced in my 29 gallon sump for a 3month old 72gal reef tank with 7 fish and immediately started getting the "nasties" out of the water. Within 2 days noticed a considerable water clarity improvement. -

Flip would recommend this product to a friendAlright I just got this so I can only tell you my first impressions. The instructions are useless. Just throw them out and use common sense. Also, their is no cap or plug for the overflow line as mentioned by others. I just crimped the line with a binder clip. I've had mine running in about 9 inches of water for about an hour and I am already skimming all kinds of nastiness. The only major flaw I have noticed so far is that it doesn't sit flat on the bottom making it wobble some. Not too much to make it fall over but it is kinda annoying considering I paid $150 for a piece of plastic. It should sit properly, dang it. But it seems to get the job done. -

taylor would recommend this product to a friendthis thing is excellent not just for the price. i had it on my 25 gallon cube for a year chuck full of sps corals and this thing was perfect. recently i upgraded to a 40 breeder and its still more than enough. it is easy to clean and doesn't take up hardly any space. it does however put our some micro bubbles after you mess with your tank but once it gets going again they go away. the collection cup is tight but with regular emptying it should never stick to bad. -

Justin would recommend this product to a friendI am highly impressed with this skimmer, especially given the price point. It skims well enough, but the genius of this skimmer is the design which allows it to fit in a tight sump without much problem.
The one draw back is the neck is almost impossible to separate from the cup once the skimmer has been running for awhile, but I just use the drain line to get rid of the skimmate and I clean the collection cup in place every few weeks instead of removing. -

Newton would recommend this product to a friendThis was perfect for a small setup without plenty of room to work with. After the quick break in after few days it was making skim mate like no other. Do wish it came with a silencer but nothing you cant make yourself with old medicine containers. Other than that works great. -

larry would recommend this product to a friendawesome skimmer i have a veavily stocked 30 gal and this thing is a skimming champ. soaked all the parts in vinegar and this thing was skimming the next day. very well made with thick seamless acrylic. mine had a plug for the drain hose. cup is a little tight but you can work it off if you take your time. i am very impressed with this thing and the price is the best part. i would reccomend this skimmer over any other. and it is also very quiet i cant hear it running when i close the door on my stand. -

Jestep would recommend this product to a friendThis is a great skimmer. Mine needed almost zero break-in. Skims like crazy. Looks great and requires very little space.
I do have a few issues with it though.
First off the collection cup sits very tightly in the body, I mean really tight. This is good in some ways, but it is so tight that it's easy to spill, splash, or literally blast the entire collection cup of crud all over the place when trying to remove it.
Secondly, there is an overflow line without any cap or plug out of the box. You would need to crimp off the overflow tube otherwise you are just dumping the skimmate somewhere.
With these being said, if you have an external waste container it's ready to go out of the box. Otherwise, be prepared to explode skimmate all over every time you need to physically remove the collection container and find some way to close off the drain line. -

Brian would recommend this product to a friendThis might be the perfect skimmer for a small sump. It's very compact in size and fits nicely inside a sump that is as small as a 10 gallon tank.

What is the difference between this skimmer and the NAC3.5?

They are basically the same skimmer with the exception that the NAC3.5 is a cone shaped skimmer. The cone shape has become a popular design as it can reduce turbulence and increase the production of the skimmer.
