WestOhooligan would recommend this product to a friendA cone skimmer for under $200? Absolutely. This is probably one of the best skimmers I've owned and live the small footprint as it is set on top of the pump. If you have a limited budget and space, I highly recommend this skimmer. It seems to perform best form me in about 7" of water. Produces really dark skimmate! -

Nothing but good things to say this little guy has it all for the mid-size nanos with a sump - small footprint, quiet, adds no heat, pulls lots of good dark funk, and is very easy to clean. I was a little wary of the price but construction is solid. It's a great looking skimmer too! If your in the market for a skimmer of this size don't hesitate to buy this one! Outperforms remora, eshopps, and bakpak. Skilter, sea clone, and cheap skimmers can't touch it! -

Not Bad By Zack on 9/3/11
Zack wouldn't recommend this product to a friendI've had this skimmer for about 6 months on my current reef setup. It was easy to install, small footprint, and relatively consistant.
I do question it's skimming ability, however. Trying about 100 different bubble head levels, I've never been able to pull out more than a light tea colored skimmate. However, I threw on my old coralife super skimmer and in 24 hours it pulled out more thick crud than the BM did in three months.
If you're going to spend that much money, I think you should get better results. I *HIGHLY* recommend the Reef Octopus. It's worlds ahead of the BM in performance and build quality. Oh, and they're the same price. The octo is a bit bigger though...make the room for it if you can.
I'm actually going to be selling my BM to take a chunk out of the price of the reef octo. -

Emil would recommend this product to a friendIt took 5 minutes from the time I took it out of the box to the time I got it dialed in and skimming. Starting to pull out some stuff after 24hours. It's relatively quiet and seems well made. Incredibly small footprint for any sized sump. I have both a Vertex IN80 and this and they're both great skimmers, but the ease of use and smaller footprints give the BM a slight advantage. I can only see it getting better as it breaks in. -

Justin would recommend this product to a friendI really like this skimmer. It skims well, is consistent, has a large collection cup for the size of the skimmer, can be adjusted easily and with fine detail, and it very quiet. My pain point is the skimmer sits on top of the pump….in my small sump and cabinet I often bump the skimmer knocking the pump out of the skimmer and it can be difficult to get back in while in the sump.
