Good product By Tom on 12/28/12Tom would recommend this product to a friendThis skimmers well built. It is also REALLY quiet! That's a big plus in my book. I love the small footprint on this skimmer and it's really good for tanks with small sumps nor limited space. Overall is a great product at a great price!
Quality product, bad instructions By max on 11/10/12max would recommend this product to a friendAnother speedy order from BRS, product looks great out of the box extremely happy with it, great for confined space, will be using in a aqueon proflex sump 1, needs good cleaning, but ready to go
Perfect for small tanks By Casey on 10/30/12Casey would recommend this product to a friendThis skimmer is very easy to maintain, provided it is placed somewhere with a constistent water level. Best skimmer I've used thus far!
Good Skimmer By Bryan on 8/9/12Bryan would recommend this product to a friendIve had mine since Dec. 2011. Its on a 30g w/10g sump pulls about a half a cup of skimm a week. I have it runing at 6.5".
Just WOW By Codebrew12 on 1/10/12Codebrew12 would recommend this product to a friendFor the money there is not a better deal. I hate to even say "for teh money" because this skimmer is top notch. You will not be sorry you purchased this little gem.
Great Price! Great Skimmer! By WestOhooligan on 10/18/11WestOhooligan would recommend this product to a friendA cone skimmer for under $200? Absolutely. This is probably one of the best skimmers I've owned and live the small footprint as it is set on top of the pump. If you have a limited budget and space, I highly recommend this skimmer. It seems to perform best form me in about 7" of water. Produces really dark skimmate!
Perfect skimmer for "mid-size" nano! By Nathan on 9/28/11Nathan would recommend this product to a friendBeen running this skimmer on my 30 gal cube for 6 mos. Nothing but good things to say this little guy has it all for the mid-size nanos with a sump - small footprint, quiet, adds no heat, pulls lots of good dark funk, and is very easy to clean. I was a little wary of the price but construction is solid. It's a great looking skimmer too! If your in the market for a skimmer of this size don't hesitate to buy this one! Outperforms remora, eshopps, and bakpak. Skilter, sea clone, and cheap skimmers can't touch it!
Overall very good! By KJ in SD on 9/17/11KJ in SD would recommend this product to a friendGood skimmer with good performance.
Not Bad By Zack on 9/3/11Zack wouldn't recommend this product to a friendI've had this skimmer for about 6 months on my current reef setup. It was easy to install, small footprint, and relatively consistant.
I do question it's skimming ability, however. Trying about 100 different bubble head levels, I've never been able to pull out more than a light tea colored skimmate. However, I threw on my old coralife super skimmer and in 24 hours it pulled out more thick crud than the BM did in three months.
If you're going to spend that much money, I think you should get better results. I *HIGHLY* recommend the Reef Octopus. It's worlds ahead of the BM in performance and build quality. Oh, and they're the same price. The octo is a bit bigger though...make the room for it if you can.
I'm actually going to be selling my BM to take a chunk out of the price of the reef octo.
Plug and play By Emil on 8/26/11Emil would recommend this product to a friendIt took 5 minutes from the time I took it out of the box to the time I got it dialed in and skimming. Starting to pull out some stuff after 24hours. It's relatively quiet and seems well made. Incredibly small footprint for any sized sump. I have both a Vertex IN80 and this and they're both great skimmers, but the ease of use and smaller footprints give the BM a slight advantage. I can only see it getting better as it breaks in.
nice skimmer By Justin on 5/17/11Justin would recommend this product to a friendI really like this skimmer. It skims well, is consistent, has a large collection cup for the size of the skimmer, can be adjusted easily and with fine detail, and it very quiet. My pain point is the skimmer sits on top of the pump….in my small sump and cabinet I often bump the skimmer knocking the pump out of the skimmer and it can be difficult to get back in while in the sump.

*At BRS we recommend using the tank size recommendation only as a guideline. There is no way these suggestions can accurately judge your particular tank because everyone has different livestock, feeding habits and maintenance schedules. A quality protein skimmer is a critical piece of equipment and can easily be the difference between a single year or a lifetime of success with your reef tank. This is the rule we suggest when choosing a skimmer. Choose the best possible skimmer that fits inside your budget and the space you have available. In the long run this will save you a fortune because you won’t feel the need to constantly upgrade your equipment.
