to coarse, not fine enough By Jake on 5/30/2014Jake wouldn't recommend this product to a friend200 micron filter socks not recommended for saltwater sump. It is not fine enough to trap anything except food pellets. I've had them in operation for at least 2 weeks.. These socks still look snow white.. Great quality thow.. My original 200 micron felt socks collected lots of gunk, but are a severe pain to clean, bleach, rince and dry.. Save your money on these mesh socks... I ordered 75 and 100 micron mesh socks (NMO100P4P) elsewhere, and if you place orders in multiples of 5, over the phone, they will deliver... We'll see how that goes. BRS Rocks! Thanks
Great Produce. By Icereefer on 4/6/2014Icereefer would recommend this product to a friendAll I can say is they do what they say they do,Great! Filter.
They are only ok for filtering By CaliO Corals on 4/2/2014CaliO Corals would recommend this product to a friendThey are worth the $$$. But not as tightly woven filter as I was expecting.. They don't clog as fast as the felt socks but they don't filter as much either... The give you an idea. I would say they are woven as tight as a breeders net..
Where I exspected something better, say as tight as a painters filter or a screen printing screen would have been nice.
Def. room for improvement.
Crystal Clear Water By Larry on 3/12/2014Larry would recommend this product to a friendThese mesh filter socks are easy to clean and a great alternative to the felt filter socks. I was excited to receive my package and amazed with their performance.
Great Alternative By Cookie P on 3/5/2014Cookie P would recommend this product to a friendDoes not get cloged fast like regular filter socks but at the same time it will not stop the really small stuff.
Just remember that this is a mesh and will only stop the larger particles.
Works great been using for about 3 weeks.
Easy Cleaning By Steven on 3/2/2014Steven would recommend this product to a friendBest thing that I like about these mesh filter socks over the felt is the effortless cleaning. I would have to rinse out the felt socks with a hose in the yard. Now I can rinse out the mesh socks in a sink. Also, makes it easier to get pods out so they can be put back into the tank.
Amazing product By Ed on 2/27/2014Ed would recommend this product to a friendI love these socks. Cleaning these is such a simple task. A daily hand wash takes seconds and keeps the solids contained nicely.
Easy To Clean By Jason on 2/6/2014Jason would recommend this product to a friendI love these filter socks, I use them on my cube tank, they are very easy to remove and handwash in the sink and pop right back in, I keep several on hand so I can easily swap them out.
Great Socks By Edward on 2/3/2014Edward would recommend this product to a friendI ordered 6 and I had one come in with a slit I contacted Bulk Reef Supply they sent me another extremely fast. I really like these catch everything and easy to clean. The price is great as well.
Great Product By Bob on 2/3/2014Bob would recommend this product to a friend+ great service as usual. A great Mn based company!
Easy to clean filter sock By This guy on 1/19/2014This guy would recommend this product to a friendI got a couple of these to try out instead of the usual felt bags I use as they were cheaper alternatives. These are very easy to clean under a tap and seem to trap just as much crud from my tank as the felt ones, although time will tell I guess. Not the strongest construction but if they last a few months then they are worth the money.
Awesome! By Shane on 1/10/2014Shane would recommend this product to a friendYes they don't filter as much as the felt, but cleaning these are the reason I have changed. It literally takes me less than 5 minutes to take the sock out and rinse it. Done!
The Felt socks do filter more but talk about a pita to clean. I keep my felt socks for deep cleaning of the tank. I put them on before I stir everything up in the DT and sump.

can you wash and re-use these filter socks
Bulk Reef Supply Hey Lester,
You sure can! I personally think the mesh ones are a bit easier to clean then the felt, though you will probably get more cycles out of the felt as its a bit more durable material.

What micron rating are these mesh socks ?
Bulk Reef Supply Hi Tony,
All of our filter socks are 200 micron.
Filter socks come in mesh or felt and with a plastic ring or draw string. See below for differences and unique advantages.
- Mesh: Thin, doesn't clog as easily as felt
- Felt: Thicker, better at removing particles, but can clog faster
- Plastic Ring: attaches via ring that fits common sump holders
- Draw String: attaches directly to plumbing
- BRS recommends starting with felt socks and switching to mesh if they clog faster than desired.
Filter sock benefits:
- Regular use will result in crystal clear water most convenient form of mechanical filtration.
- Remove excess food, detritus, organic waste, dust and other particulates
- Convenient form of mechanical filtration
- Prevents larger objects like sand, crabs and snails from damaging pump motors
- Reduces ammonia and nitrate producing organic waste
- Increases filter life
