Works as intended By Tom on 9/17/2012Tom would recommend this product to a friendWith this pump I was able to get my tank pressure to 62 psi =). Note that to get this pressure you have to remove your BRS Auto Shut off valve.
Quote from the manufacture "This pump can also bring storage tanks up to line pressure and then shut the system down when these tanks reach capacity, eliminating the need for a hydraulic shut-off valve."
I would have given it a 5 star but it is a little loud while its working. Other than that its worth every penny.
Worth the Price By Mike on 7/21/2012Mike wouldn't recommend this product to a friendI don't know whether it reduces waste water "by up to 80%" as claimed, but it definitely does not "[f]ill product tank up to 4 times more rapidly." Still it increased flow in my BRS/DI unit by about 25% (from 37 psi to 47 psi) so I'm satisfied. No instructions but BRS promptly answered my installation questions. Once my questions were answered, installation was very easy.
Big difference in waste water By Sheila on 5/16/2012Sheila would recommend this product to a friendThis was simple to install, once I found instructions. http://www.aquatec.com/sg_userfiles/IMI-106c.pdf I was wasting a lot of water and this simple pump increased pressure by about 7 pounds and reduced waste water to nearly 1:1. It makes a clicking sound when working but not really loud. Be sure to order the mounting clip. This should be part of any RODI system.
Overall satisfied but a little misleading By Danny on 3/14/2012Danny would recommend this product to a friendI think that these are almost a necessity to save on the utilities. I will have to check and see what ratio it brings it down to, but it definitely decreases waste water production.
I did not like the fact that it doesnt come with the clip assembly that is used to secure it to the wall. The clip was pictured with the item and wasnt in the item description that it was not included or that it was optional hardware.
I purchased the same unit from another source and it came with the clip at the same price. I dont really feel as though it should be sold seperately. It is a requirement that the unit be mounted in a specific orientation to work properly. Without the clip you have to hope it stays in the right position.
Just a heads up so if you want to mount the unit to a wall check the accessories page and know that you have to purchase it seperately. I did not even think to check prior to final order placement since it was picture on the item. I only found out after the package was received. I will contact customer service to inquire...
Great item By Kevin on 2/16/2012Kevin would recommend this product to a friendThis plus the booster pump has gotten me to were my RODI unit is almost to a 1:1 ratio. Makes RODI water fast

how often should the permeate pump click?
Bulk Reef Supply It depends on the rate of water production but assuming you are making water at 75gpd is every few seconds until the tank starts to reach capacity, then it slows down.

Does the auto shutoff valve of the RO system need to be removed and replaced with one that permits higher pressure? Is there any negative effect from using the permeate pump as the auto shutoff valve itself?
Bulk Reef Supply Hi Mor,
If you have a permeate pump it would be best just to remove the auto shut off altogether. The permeate pump will function as an auto shut off and it will allow a higher ratio of pressure then the standard one would. You could also leave the standard one in place and it would function, it would just turn your system off a bit sooner (and a bit less pressure in the tank) then the permeate pump would.

In the instructions it says that it fills the pressurized tank. I fill a 55gallon drum for my needs that is not pressurized. Will this still work for that application?
Bulk Reef Supply Hey Joel,
Since your drum is what is called an atmospheric tank (not pressurized) the permeate pump really wouldn't do you any good as your not having to contend with any back-pressure.
Aquatec’s original Permeate Pump (ERP1000) is a simple, yet revolutionary, device. Powered only by the hydraulic energy of brine water usually lost to the drain (i.e. no electricity required), the Permeate Pump forces product water into the pressure tank, reducing membrane back pressure and maximizing available feed pressure.
These pumps dramatically improve the efficiency of Drinking wWater R.O. water production, reducing wastewater by up to 80%. In other words, if your current system requires 10 gallons of tap water to produce a gallon of pure water (10:1), adding a Permeate Pump should reduce this ratio below 3:1. ¼" hose connections.
- Requires no electricity, powered by energy from brine water
- Improves recovery rates by as much as 400%
- Can reduce waste water by as much as 80%
- Enhances contaminant rejection
- Ideal for membranes rated from 10-100 GPD
- Effective for inlet water pressure as low as 30 psi
- Increases membrane life, lowers “TDS creep”
- Fills product tank up to 4 times more rapidly
- NSF approved (Standard 58)
- Two year manufacturer’s warranty
