1.5 Gallons (7.5 pounds) Color Changing Nuclear Grade DI Resin. We recommend the color changing resin because it gives you an idea of when to start checking your TDS meter more often. This is enough resin to fill 6 standard refillable cartridges. At Bulk Reef Supply we take pride in the proper packing of our DI resin. DI resin is depleted when it comes in contact with carbon dioxide, our goal is to minimize this contact and provide you the best product possible. We utilize foil lined Mylar bags, these thick plastic bags are coated with 4mil aluminum foil on the outside. Mylar is extremely effective at stopping the transmission of carbon dioxide and insures that your resin isn't prematurely depleted. In addition we vacuum package our resin, this removes virtually all of the carbon dioxide within the packaging itself. After opening you may use the zip lock strip in the bag to reseal or a hot iron to heat seal the bag. Typical Plastic bags and buckets are not effective barriers to carbon dioxide for long term storage. Over time they with breathe and partially deplete your resin. It is unlikely that it will be completely depleted but you will find that it has been partially exhausted and needs to be replaced more frequently. The resin changes from Blue to light brown as it is depleted. The color indicator in DI resin is just a visual indicator of when the resin is close to exhausting and should not be considered and accurate representation of when the resin is fully depleted, it can often be good much longer. We strongly suggest using inline TDS meters to definitivly tell you when it is time to change your resin. |
